she loved them all

I am without proper words to express my full gratitude.  I am happy, yet not totally surprised, to say that I have found a boutique that is a perfect fit for me and my art.    I say I am not surprised because I have always known that all I need to do is show up and do the work, listen for guidance, then follow, and the vital step is to let go of the outcome.  When I let go The Universe/God will step in to take care of the results.  I will admit that some days it all seems bleak and my ego wants to take charge and plant negative ideas in my head.  Sometimes I buy into the nonsense.  I will even go one step further to say that it is not easy to quiet that chatter.  I just keep trying to be better.

Today I met with Charlene at the Sanctuary Community Center with the intention to show her my handmade journals to see if she was interested in having them in her boutique.  As soon as I walked thru the door there was this sense of calm that enveloped me.  I felt "at home".  The aura in the room was peaceful and serene.

Charlene began looking at my journals and one by one pulled them out and expressed her sincere appreciation for the art and for each message conveyed.  Needless to say, she LOVED them, all of them.  I will soon be delivering my art to be hung in the gallery space.

The last part of my Affirmative Prayer is...With quiet expectancy, I let it be.

Thank You for your continued support and encouragement.

Peaceful flowers

I wanted to show you this 3D project I completed yesterday.  I've been working on it for a few days, I can honestly say the entire time I was feeling this surge of creativity.  It has truly been a labor of love.  Right now it's adorning my wall in my Living Room then it will be sold to anyone who can see it hanging on their wall.  If that person is you let me know and I will send you more details.

I've been asked "how did you make it".  Let me tell you:
    • it's on a 12 x 24 gallery wrapped canvas with a 1 1/2 " cradle
    • the left side of the canvas is textured with modeling paste, then delicately painted with various color from the colors
    • the right side is painted with varying shades of Paynes Grey acrylic paint, it difficult to see the texture from the photo
    • flowers are made from burlap that I stiffened and shaped
    • stigmas of the flower are from wire then I threaded a bead to the end
    • stems are from a clothes hanger I wrapped with torn painted paper
    • the leaves are several pages from a vintage book glued together then I lightly painted on them making sure some of the text showing thru
    • the flower pot-cardboard cut out and shaped like a clay pot, textured with crackle past then painted

art abandonment at the riverwalk

I have been participating with other artist in a "movement" called  Art Abandonment.  You create a piece of art and secretly place it in an everyday place for some lucky person to find.  The whole idea is to bring a smile to someones face.  You leave a note with the art tell the person that it is a gift to them.  The first time did it I felt like a little kid, you can read the post here.

This morning I got up at 6:45am, with my camera strapped to my shoulder and went to the Naperville Riverwalk.  It's a beautiful place to walk along a river.

My intention was to abandon 2 more pieces of art at the riverwalk.  Yet I received much more.  I found serenity sitting on the park bench under this big tree while listening to the river cascade over rocks.  Peaceful would adequately describe the start to my morning.

Mexico

I just returned from a vacation in Mexico.  John and I have been going there, the same time each year, for the past 12 years.  It's a time that I totally unwind.  I love listening to the ocean, with it's ebb and it's flow.  Reminds me of life, with our ebbs and flows.  As much as I love being in Mexico on vacation, I am always ready to come home and put into action the many things I would think about all day.  I say this often, no matter where you travel or how far you roam there is one thing for certain, there's no place like home.

Here's a photo of my position almost each day, loving every minute of it, too.
