DIY Christmas Cards • Truly Unique

This is the eighth in my series of posts about all the Christmas Cards I have made from years past. You can review the previous posts by clicking on these links:

I was really thinking outside the box in 1998 and 1999. For those two years I created card designs that were singular concepts. They just don't fit with any other grouping. But as I sit typing this, the classification of Action Cards comes to mind.  Both required the receiver to perform an action in order the enjoy the card in it's full glory.

1998 • Jumping for Joy

In my other life I am the Tech Coordinator for the local school system.  In the late '90s the school got one of those cutting systems for easily creating block letters for bulletin boards. Easily cutting lots of letters was the spring board for this idea. The card was a handmade envelope with a little pull tag...."May your Christmas be filled with....".

Simply pull the tag and voila! Out pops JOY!

1999 • Concentric Circles...

The following year I used a classic paper craft concept of cutting opposing slits into a circle folded into quarters. The design, out of the envelope looked unimpressive....

But pull the little string......

And, Wow!

Did you ever receive a Christmas card  like that?

These are just two of the many different designs I have created since 1984. Take a few minutes and look through these other posts for additional ideas.

    1. Sorry but there is no How- to tutorials on this particular post. I know some websites have been forwarding people here implying there is a how-to. I created these many years ago - long before blogging and some even before home computing. I have shared them only to show the ideas and history behind my current cards. I do have a how -to for the Santa Card I created last year here. The plan is to add them going forward. So stay in touch.
