Document December Prep Week Two: How To Get Organized For This Project

I am so excited to be a guest designer for Elle's Studio and create projects to Document December 2019. For week two, I am sharing some easy organization tips to help you play in your December albums.

I made a distressed toolbox into a farmhouse caddy to hold all of my Document December supplies for embellishing pages. The front sections store my die cuts and shapes as well as stickers, acrylic and wood veneer and the large back section stores puffy stickers and stamps. Having everything divided by type helps me locate it quickly. Keeping my supplies out and easily accessible helps the project along with a dedicated place for everything.

The second container holds all the base supplies: 6″ x 8″ paper, 4″ x 6″, and 3″ x 4″ tags from the Document December 2019 Kit. I divided the 3″ x 4″ tags into two sections: journaling tags on the right and filler cards on the left. I divided up the cards based on the way my mind works, and the way I use these supplies.

With my containers gathered together, I can play with the Document December products from left to right. First, my 6″ x 8″ album with pocket pages inside, then the container of base pages, then the tool caddy of embellishments. Having the products out and visible helps me to stay on track. You could also add a notebook to track things you want to journal, or note that in your planner like I do!

Thank you for joining me today, and I hope this organizational idea helps you.

Tonic Studios USA and Scrapbook.com Dream In Color Collection: Idea One

Hello friends! I have a new collaboration with Scrapbook.com! I am excited to share the new Tonic Studios USA Dream In Color collection available at Scrapbook .com!

I used the new Nuvo Jewel Drops, Shimmer Powders, and Crystal Drops from this new line from Scrapbook.com!

Idea One: Add drops to the lines and patterns already printed on your paper! The new Honeysuckle Jewel Drops were used along the road in the map paper from Heidi Swapp's new Color Fresh line. It also symbolizes all roads lead to Creativation!

The Jewel Drops are translucent, and create a beautiful effect on your pages!

This next page in my travel journal for Creativation shows the drops added to the circle pattern on the right side near the tags. This is a simple way to use your drops and highlight some pattern on the layout. The drops are perfect for your smaller documentation styles like a travel journal,  junk journal, mini album, and so much more. The die cuts on the above pages are from the Heidi Swapp Pineapple Crush line.

Here are the links to the new products at Scrapbook.com, if you would like to get your hands on all these yummy colors!

Thank you for visiting today, and happy creating!

American Crafts February Scrapbook Project: Shimelle Head In The Clouds Layout

Hello friends! I have a new layout to share about the love I have for my kids. I love the colors in this Head In The Clouds collection and chose to showcase several of them with a plethora of punched hearts! The idea behind this layout is to tell the story of opening every day like it is an envelope full of hearts, ready to flutter and land among us. We just have to pick them up and appreciate them.

I decided to tilt the envelope on the page, to make it seem as if it fell open and all the hearts scattered around me. I love the patterns that Shimelle includes in her collections, as they are SO EASY to create with!!

You can see the hand stitching created with the We R Memory Keepers Stitch Happy Pen. Lots of different tone on tone patterns are used to add interest to the page. The leafy punched bits reiterate the pattern on the envelope, and the plants in the photo.

The journaling is hand-written, and added to the Head In The Clouds Die Cut. I love the rose gold glitter Thickers used to create the title. It says "Love You, Today and Every Day".

Here is a process video if you would like to watch how this layout came together.

Thank you for visiting today, Leigh.

American Crafts Snow Scrapbook Layout December 2018

Hello friends! I have a new layout using the American Crafts Dear Lizzy Collection, called New Day. The line has beautiful magenta and teal tones, for a fresh color palette.

The teal background helps the photo pop, since the photo was taken in the snow. I placed the poinsettias in a wandering vertical line to point your eye to the photo.

You can see the dimension created by folding the poinsettias, a little tip I learned from Jeniffer Gallacher. The three spots of magenta on the layout help lead your eye to the photo as well. I added punched snowflakes to two of the poinsettias.

I like the metallic shine of gold with the magenta and teal colors on the page. There are several spots where the metallic gold is repeated throughout the layout. This helps unify the page. Have you tried a new color scheme lately? Give it a go! :)

In this close-up view, you can see the white gel pen journaling . It finished off the page, and ties in the white from the flowers and the photo. I piled embellishments from the New Day collection near the bottom right of the photo.

Thank you for joining me, and happy crafting!

American Crafts Design Team Mini Album and Video

Hello friends! I was inspired by Paige Evans and her many beautiful mini-album videos! She is so creative, and since I made my last mini album no less than six years ago, I thought it was about time:) The new Vicki Boutin Mixed Media line is perfect for trying out mixed media techniques, and I had fun creating watercolor art with her Art Crayons.

First page using the Vicki Boutin Creative FX Iridescent glaze and her stencils, and art crayons.

Stamping underneath the smile title.

The Vicki Boutin Heavyweight Mixed Media Paper is 140# and doesn't warp, so it's perfect for base pages.

Love the Glaze with this mandala stencil. #mixedmedia

Sunday Sketch with Citrus Twist Kits

Hello crafty friends! I have a Sunday Sketch layout for you today.

I bought a new Fiskars punch and wanted to try to make pumpkins with it, even though it is a hot air balloon punch.

Close up of the photo I edited to black and white in Lightroom, so that the color scheme would stand out, and also the photo pops more in black and white. I tucked bits and fussy-cut tags from the patterned papers in the kit.

I added some staples to coordinate with the cut-aparts in the kit.

The Sunday Sketch from Citrus Twist Kits is above if you would like to give it a go!

Happy crafting, and thanks for stopping by!

Felicity Jane Creative Team Layout 2: August Zoey Kit

Hello Friends! Welcome to my second layout for the Felicity Jane Creative Team
using the beautiful August 2017 Zoey Kits.

The confetti stamp from the kit stamp set is the same width as those brush strokes! Serendipitous!

I cut a section out of the Dots and Stripes PP from the kit, and placed the stamped confetti rainbow behind it. Stamped the "something to smile about" in black ink and added it near the file tab.

Piled on the layers of acetate, die cuts, pocket cards, and typewritten journaling under the title.

Felicity Jane Creative Team Birthday Layout

Hello friends! I am so excited to share my first Creative Team project for Felicity Jane! I used the August 2017 Zoey Kit. There are amazing designers on the team and I am a big fan of all their work. Getting the kit was like getting a crafty party in a box, and even the packaging is so well designed I had to use it on my layout!

Those party flower centers are made from the crinkled paper packaging strips in your kit. The Tiny Attacher holds six layers of flowers, made from the solid card stock in the kit. A second staple holds the crinkled paper strips.

I used the We R Memory Keepers Frame Punch Board to make the layered frames, and tilted the darker solid card stock behind each patterned paper.

The package of die cuts was perfect for layering and anchoring the photo.

The Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Hot Pink is splattered under the paper die cut sequins and puffy stickers.

Process Video if you would like too see how this layout came together:)

Thank you for joining the crafty party!

Citrus Twist Kits June 2017 Project 4 | Book Nook

My fourth project with the June 2017 Citrus Twist Kits Scrapbook
Main kit called "Boardwalk".

"Book Nook"  8.5x11 layout using the Scrapbook Main Kit and the Embellishment Kit for June 2017, featuring the Pink Paislee "Oh My Heart" collection by Paige Evans! Love all the embellishment you get in this kit!

The idea came to me to fold down the top left corner of the page and reveal the cute chipboard books from the "Oh My Heart" chipboard pack included in the Embellishment Kit. These cute embellishments spurred the theme of this page, about the little book nook I have created in our new house.

The exclusive Citrus Twist Kits puffy alphabet was created by
Pink Fresh Studios, and I lined the title up under the photo here. The cute sticker sheet from Jillibean Soup has lots of cute, small scale symbols perfect for planner, TN, and smaller size projects, so I used the small heart in between the two words of the title.

Paige Evans Oh MY Heart washi used to add a little color and pattern near the title.

Thank you for visiting today and jump over to Citrus Twist Kits to see more creations with the amazing June Kits.
