Doors and Windows of Marrakech, Chefchauen & Fez

Some of you already know that husband and I were lucky to travel to Morocco in 2015. As a matter of fact, all of last year was full of travel for us and I hope to sort out my pictures and share them with you here, on my often neglected Blog! Of course this may be a result of the dawn of a new year and all its action packed positivity rubbing off on me, we shall see :)

Within Morocco we traveled to Marrakech, Chefchauen and Fez, with Chefchauen being a hill station and strikingly different to the other two. Since I have hundreds of photographs of my trip, I have decided to organize them into several blog posts, each dealing with a different aspect, Architecture, textiles, bazaars and so on.

Above is the entrance of our beautiful Riad Lheure-dete in Marrakech, you can check out the hotel website here: http://www.lheure-dete.com/chambres.html
It was comfortable and affordable with warm and friendly service.

Riads are typically small residential Haveli Style properties with a central courtyard with a garden/citrus trees and rooms all around. Many of these Riads have been converted into boutique hotels offering great service, in the heart of the old city areas of these popular destinations.
I highly recommend living in one of these to get a taste of Morocco.

Below is a small collection of Doors and windows of Morocco...

Day trip from London to Brighton, UK

We went on a day trip to Brighton recently and what a day it was, cold, grey and windy! Brighton beach however was still as pretty, husband and I had a great time.

The Brighton beach is a pebble beach, a first of its kind for me and the colours were fantastic. More seagulls on the beach than people, it was beautiful!

There are some crazy rides at the Brighton pier which we didn't try, perhaps next time when family visits. Lunch was at the Regency Restaurant, not the best fish and chips in town I am told but it is quite an institution in itself so we had to eat there. The portions we huge and prices reasonable :)
I also spotted a cute little shop called People Tree which supports sustainable and fair trade fashion.
We took the train to Brighton and came back around 5 in the evening, it was a day well spent!

Little Venice

Vivek and I have finally settled down in our new home in London. It is a small house, but it is warm.
Ever since my first visit to London, I knew that I would love to live here one day, I am grateful for this chance to experience another culture in another country. Yet there is a sense of inertia within me, of wanting to stay in one place, grow roots and to hold on. In my head I should now be saving up to buy that wooden cupboard, that Smeg refrigerator and slowly build that house that I have pinned on Pinterest, but is it possible if one is on the move, living in one city and then another every 2 to 3 years?

So having said that I did manage to bring some of my home with me :)
Some of my fav wall art, and I wish to buy some more...any leads?
My Kashmiri Namdah and Kullu Socks + Shoes
And my fridge magnets!
My neighbourhood is beautiful and Little Venice is only a short walk away, so when the sun was out, I took my iPad and sat by the canal to read. lots of people and birds were out, soaking in the sun with me and it was a delightful day.

 Little Venice!

So stay with me while I fill this space with more interesting days, slowly.

this is what we ate the other day....

 quail eggs.....
they were of course a part of the yummy (if i my say so) green salad that i made..i reckon that dorabjee is the best place to do your exotic food shopping in pune.....
they were almost the size of the cherry tomatoes....soooo tiny~
i boiled them and used it in the salad of mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, onion, gouda cheese flakes with a dressing of olive oil, lemon juice salt and freshly ground black pepper.....i would for you to share your green salad recipes with me....i am quite a new cook....so all that you will share will be put to good use i promise!
the boiled quail eggs tasted the same as chicken eggs but the inside shell colour was such a lovely pale blue...
what exotic foods are you having??
