What I Wore In February and a Sneak Peek of My New Easter Dress

I don't have a lot of outfits to show this month as I didn't get out much, and when I did it was so cold my outfits weren't blog-worthy, but because I'm all about keeping it real and showing you what I really wear....here goes!

This is an outfit I wore on a chilly day to the hair dresser and running weekly errands.  It was a cold day, so I wore tall boots.  I always save those tall boots for the coldest of days to keep my legs warm. With those boots, I wore black leggings with a long burgundy sweater.

Believe it or not, this ended up being my Valentine Day's Outfit ha ha!  I do all these posts on "What To Wear For Valentine's Day" and this is what I end up actually wearing.  However, in my defense, I ended up choosing this outfit based on our activity.  We chose to visit our local zoo and conservatory for our Valentine date.  This required being comfortable in a car for two hours there and back, so I wore eggplant leggings for comfort.  We would also be spending lots of time outdoors in 30 degree temperatures so I chose a turtleneck sweater to keep me warm.  And because we would be on our feet all day, I chose comfortable hiking boots.

We had one slightly warmer day last month where I could leave the down-filled parka at home and just get by with this heavy cardigan from Stitch Fix.  It looks kinda funny in the photo as it's sort of a wrap too.  You can check out this post HERE to see other ways I styled it.

I paired the cardigan with a black tank, grey skinny jeans, and black suede 3 buckle booties.

And finally, I wanted to give you a sneak peek at my new Easter dress!  I don't want to show any pictures of me wearing it just quite yet, but I wanted to show the dress now in case you're shopping for dresses.  Items at TJMaxx disappear so fast, so if you need a dress, go now!  They have some pretty ones.

I really wasn't looking for a new dress, I have plenty already.  But as always, I go to TJMaxx to buy a mattress protector and I end up coming home with a dress. 🤣 TJMaxx is my danger store.  I really need to stay out of there.  Anyhow, I do have a wedding in late May too and I was starting to think about what to wear.  They always say "Don't buy a new dress for a special occasion, you will never wear it again."  But you know what the problem with that thinking is?  You take pictures at special occasions and if you don't wear something new, you are wearing the same dress in every picture of every special event.  Trust me.  My husband is the perfect example.  Every picture we have of him he's got the same outfit on.  Someday my grandchildren are going to ask me "Grandma, were you and Grandpa poor that he couldn't afford more than one shirt?" ha ha!

Anyhow, this dress is by Tommy Hilfiger and cost $40.  It is absolutely stunning on.  The halter neck line is so flattering and the belt really accentuates the waist line.  It is T-Length which I am so happy about.  It's so hard to find a dress that is below the knee these days.  I realize it could be really cold on Easter Sunday and I might have to wear a white cardigan with it or scrap wearing a dress altogether, which would be a bummer, but it's happened before!  But I'm sure I'll be able to wear it to the wedding at the end of May (fingers crossed!  We've gotten snow in May here too!).

So have you found your Easter dress yet?  I'd love to hear from you!

Have A Great Day!  Amy

What I Wore In December

Hey Girlfriends, it's time for another round up of some outfits that I wore in the month of December.  I'm quite the homebody.  On average I only leave the house twice a week, so I never have too many outfits to share.  I always take a quick selfie before I leave the house, and I post it to my Instagram and Facebook stories, that's why some of the photos have hashtags on them.

This month, I was more of a homebody than usual as my family was here for the holidays and we didn't go out much.  We all enjoyed just cozying up at home.  But here are seven outfits I wore when I did leave the house.

This is an outfit I wore out to lunch with the hubs and shopping.  The top and pull on jeans are both from Stitch Fix.

Since December was a holiday month,  I have a few holiday outfits to share.  You may remember this Liz Claiborne dress I wore in my "Grandma and Me:  My Two Favorite Presents Under The Christmas Tree" post.  I wore this dress on Christmas Sunday to Church, but this time I changed it up a bit by wearing tall slouchy boots.  And great news!  This dress is STILL available HERE!

Another lunch/shopping outfit.  Grey jeans are from Stitch Fix, the black and white marbled sweater and tall riding boots are from JCPenney (both old).

I wore this outfit for a hair appointment.  The leggings are from Stitch Fix,
the sweater is from JCP, and the combat boots are from Charlotte Russe (all old).

Sometime during the holiday month I wore this outfit shopping.  If you can't read my sweater, it says "Honey It's Cold Outside". It is a word play on the controversial holiday song.  I wear it every year.  I found it at H&M years ago.  The words are silver crystals.  I wore my sweater with Burgundy skinny jeans and brown suede booties, all old.

Another holiday outfit I wore was a sparkly navy blue sweater with black pants and black suede booties.  I wore this the Sunday after Christmas.  The sweater was purchased years ago from JCPenney and the pants I received in a recent box from Stitch Fix.

And the last look I will share is a new top I wore on Christmas Day.  I picked this cute top up at TJMaxx.  You will see more of this top in an upcoming Valentine's Day post.  It is so pretty!  I love the yoke and sleeves.  I paired the top with the same stretchy black pants I'm wearing above and black suede booties.

I hope you enjoyed this months "What I Wore" post.  For whatever reason, they seem to be popular.  I guess we are all a bit curious what other women wear in real life, since most of us don't have that much to dress up for these days as our society is growing more and more casual.

What I Wore In October

It is the end of one month and the start of a new month, so it's time for a monthly "What I Wore" post.  These posts are just a quick review of what I wore in real life.  Most of the time I just snap a picture of myself before I walk out the door, but sometimes someone is around to do it for me.  I'm continuously amazed at how popular these posts are.  I get more hits out of these posts than a more formal fashion shoot.  Who knew women would want to see selfies in front of a mirror of everyday looks?

This is an outfit I wore for a day of errands;  the typical shopping and lunch with hubby kind of day.

The coat is a new olive windbreaker I picked up at TJMaxx.  Everything else I'm wearing is old.  The pants are blue stretch cords from Stitch Fix that I apparently got a lot of use out of this month as they are in a lot of the pictures!

This plaid dress (JCP, old), red tights, and brown boots I wore to church.

This outfit you might have seen in a fashion post titled "Blue and Gold" that I featured earlier last month.  I wore it again when I was in Illinois visiting the kids and grand kids last week.  We went to a an animal rescue center.  It was such a beautiful place, hopefully when I'm done with my Utah Travel Series I can do a post on this special place.

I do love this gold cardigan I bought years ago.  It's such a great color for fall and it's so cozy.  I get compliments every time I wear it.  It's nice to buy a piece that has such longevity.

If you caught Monday's "Grandma & Me" post you would have seen this outfit.  I wore this to a farm in Illinois.  The top is new from TJMaxx, everything else is old.  I'm wearing the same blue stretch cords from Stitch Fix I have on in the first picture.  I love these pants!  They are so comfy.

This is an outfit I wore running errands when the weather was still warm.  I did put a jean jacket over it though.  The top is from Stitch Fix and everything else I'm wearing is very old.

I wore this NEW SWEATER shopping with my daughter and grand kids.  I just love this sweater from JCPenney.  It's nice and long so I wore it with blue leggings.

And finally, an outfit I wore both to church and on a fall hike with my hubby.  You may have seen this one too as I did a full fashion post on it.  I have those same stretch blue cords from Stitch Fix on.  See, I told you I wear them a lot!

What I Wore In September

Once a month I like to do a little review post of all the outfits I wore in my daily life.  I post these daily outfits to my Instagram Stories on the day I wear them, and then I do a "round-up" of the month here.

This is an outfit I wore on a cool, rainy day to get my hair done, run errands, and meet my husband for lunch.  The top and jacket are new from TJMaxx and you'll see more of this top in my November "Grandma & Me" post.  As for the jacket, I already owned two olive green jackets and needed this one like a hole in the head, but I bought it anyway because it was made of nylon.  My other olive green jackets are not rain proof.  And you know what?  Even though it was a spontaneous purchase, this jacket has come in handy because it hasn't stopped raining since I bought it. 🤣 So maybe I needed it after all.

I wore this old dress from Stitch Fix to church.

I wore my new cardigan from my September box from Stitch Fix to go shopping and out to lunch.

Another shopping/lunch outfit on a day when it was actually warm and sunny last month!

I wore my new black pants from my September Stitch Fix box to Illinois for my Grandson's baby dedication.  They were perfect to wear in the long six hour car drive.  The top is also from Stitch Fix, but I got it last year.

I finally got a pair of snake skin print booties!   They have been on my wish list for a while now.  I really wanted the Sam Edelman pair, but this pair from JCPenney was more in my price range.  I got them for around $30.00 with a coupon.  I paired the booties with an old embroidered tee and my new olive green jacket since it was raining again.

An old maxi dress I wore to church.

I wore this off-the-shoulder top on a warmer fall day to go shopping/lunch.  The jeans are also from Stitch Fix.  I received both items last fall.

Another old maxi dress I wore to church.

What I Wore In August

Editorial Note:  This is a pre-scheduled post.  I am on vacation to Utah this week and may not be able to release or respond to comments until I return.  I will resume a normal blogging schedule September 10.

Once a month I like to show you what I wore in real life, because not everything I wear makes it into a fashion post.  This month I spent a week at my daughters home in Illinois, but most of that week I was chasing a two year around so I wore active wear.  Unfortunately I never got any pictures of myself wearing active wear.  Life is always a little more crazy when watching small children and remembering to take a "selfie" is never a top priority. 🤣  But here are some photos and selfies I did remember to take.

This knit maxi dress you may have seen on Monday's "Grandma & Me" post.  It's a super comfy knit dress my daughter purchased from Amazon about a year ago.  I linked to a similar one on Amazon on  Monday's post.  I wore this gorgeous dress to a day in a park for a photo shoot with the kids.

My stretchy, spandex dress from Stitch Fix has gotten a lot of use this summer...which is exactly what I thought  would happen when I saw it in my box.   I actually consider this dress active wear because of the material.  I wore it to the library then out to lunch with my "girls" and Baby Atticus.  Alethea was so thrilled because she got her first ever "Munchkin Meal" all to herself.  Usually she just shares the adults food when she goes out to eat.  But on this day, I ordered a meal just for her mostly because Ashley and I didn't think she would want to eat what we ordered for ourselves.  Oh my goodness, if you could have seen the expression on her face with the waiter set her plate down in front of her.  It was priceless.  Her eyes got so big, then she looked at me and her mom with this expression that said "Is this really all for me?"

It is not officially fall until September 23, but I like to start transitioning my outfits this time of year.  It has already cooled off so much in Wisconsin, a lot of people are complaining about it because our summers are short enough as it is.  So on this shopping day I wore a neutral outfit with a short sleeve cardigan.  The colors are more fall-like, and the short sleeve cardigan kept me warm.  Everything is old, except the sandals.  I picked those up at Famous Footwear in Illinois for only $40.  I've wanted a pair of Tory Burch Miller Sandals for years, but just couldn't stomach spending $150.00 for a flip flop.  I was so excited to find this dupe by Report.  They look EXACTLY like the Tory Burch brand!

I wore my new maxi dress from Stitch Fix twice already:  once to church and the other to see a musical in Chicago.  We saw "The Hunchback of Notre Dame".  It was AMAZING!

This dress from Francesca's I wore to church.  I have had it for years, and I always get compliments every single time I wear it.  It was one of the best purchases I've ever made.

This is an outfit I wore on a date night with my husband.  The top and skirt are from JCPenney (old) and the sandals are from DSW.

Have you heard the color of the year is "Living Coral"?  This rusty/copper color in my top has been popping up in all the stores and everyone has been calling it by a different name.  Finally, Pantone came up with the name "Living Coral" which I think describes it perfectly.  I LOVE this color!  I think it's so flattering and is perfect for fall.  I purchased this top at TJMaxx.  I can't find it on-line but they had it in both the Wisconsin and Illinois stores, so it's probably in a store near you.  I wore this top to a park for a photo shoot with the grand kids (post coming soon!).  I paired it with a pair of olive green linen cropped pants from JCPenney  and my new Tommy Hilfiger sandals.

This is an old dress from Stitch Fix that I wore to church.

I received this top from Stitch Fix this summer.  I didn't think I would wear it until fall because it's kinda heavy, but it was a cool day so I wore it with shorts out to lunch with my husband and shopping.

As always, I got a lot of uses out of my Stitch Fix pieces this month.  Which outfit was your favorite?  I'd love to hear from you!

What I Wore In July

Once a month I like to do a little round-up of outfits I wore in real life.  I know that might sound funny to some, but since a lot of my posts are Stitch Fix items that get sent back, I thought showing outfits I really wore and where I wore them to would be interesting to some people.  These are all "selfies" that were posted to Instagram or snapshots of life in action.

This is a maxi dress I received from Stitch Fix that I wore to church.  It's been a month of maxi's and light weight pants for me because in addition to the burn scar I have from my Thanksgiving accident on my leg, I also got a huge bruise about the size of a baseball from a gardening accident.  My legs literally look like I just crawled out of a war zone.

This more casual knit maxi I wore twice this month:  once to the hospital to visit my grandson and once to an outdoor church service and lunch with friends.

Before my gardening accident,  I wore my new shorts from Stitch Fix at least three times this month. Here I wore it as my going-home outfit.  We checked my daughter and baby Atticus out of the hospital, and then we drove the six hours home.  It was a very comfortable travel outfit thanks to the spandex material of the shorts.

Here I wore the shorts with a red top from JCPenney (old).  I got my hair styled in the morning, then I met my hubby for lunch and went shopping in this outfit.

This was another outfit I wore when I still had a mammoth bruise on my leg.  These are lightweight coral/pink pants that I received from Stitch Fix this year.  I knew these light weight pants would come in handy this summer!  I styled it with a sleeveless floral top (old) that I tied in a knot at the waist.  I love that is popular to tie your shirts in knots again.  I have always tied my shirts in knots whether it was trendy or not, but it's nice that it's super popular to do so right now.

Another church outfit.

Here is what I wore on the six hour car drive to Illinois to meet Baby Atticus:  a comfortable knit t-shirt dress from JCPenney (old).  Notice Alethea with her cheese curds?  This picture was taken when I just got there.  I always bring her cheese curds from Wisconsin every time I see her.  She's gonna grow up thinking cheese curds only come from Wisconsin!  ha ha!

I wore this t-shirt dress from Stitch Fix the first time I met Baby Atticus!

And finally, another shopping outfit.  Again,  I'm wearing lightweight pants because of the large bruise on my leg.  The pants I received from Stitch Fix this spring, everything else is old (JCP).
