Chapter 11.8, Problem 11.8.1CP
Explanation of Solution
Polymorphism:
The polymorphism is an ability of an object to react differently to different object.
- It occurs when there is an existence of a hierarchy of class and it should be related by inheritance.
- It allows an object pointer or reference variable to point the objects of different types.
- It calls the correct member function which depends upon the type of the object being invoked.
Binding:
Binding is the process of converting identifiers into addresses. It is possible to bind both the variables and functions names. There are two types of binding static and dynamic binding.
Dynamic binding:
Dynamic binding is the process of linking a procedure call to the code which will be executed at run time.
- Dynamic binding is also called as late binding.
- It determines which type of the method call to be called at the run time, which depends upon the type of the object which is responsible for the call.
- Method overriding is perfect example of dynamic binding, because both superclass and subclass have the same method and also the type of the object finds which method is going to execute.
- The execution of the program is slower in dynamic binding.
Example:
Consider the example of dynamic polymorphism which is given below:
//definition of "Employee" class
class Employee
{
//definition of method
public void statement()
{
//print the statement
