Tom Gabel (Against Me!) To Undergo Sex Change
According to the upcoming edition of Rolling Stone, Against Me! frontman Tom Gabel is set to be undergoing a sex change.Check out an excerpt from the piece below:
"Gabel, who has dealt privately with gender dysphoria for years, will soon begin the process of transition, by taking hormones and undergoing electrolysis treatments.
Gabel will eventually take the name Laura Jane Grace, and will remain married to her wife Heather. 'For me, the most terrifying thing about this was how she would accept the news,' says Gabel. 'But she's been super-amazing and understanding."
Against Me! Leave Warner Bros Records
Against Me! have parted ways with Warner Bros/Sire Records.Frontman Tom Gabel made the following statement:
"An apology is long over due, to everyone who bought tickets to come out and see us at any of the tour dates we had to cancel this past October and November, we're sorry. Canceling tour dates is the last thing that we ever want to do, especially when the dates have us going to some of our favorite places in the world, but this past October a culmination of circumstances were engulfing us and we had to take some time off from touring to go home and sort things out.
On a related note, after almost a five year relationship we are leaving Sire/Warner. We have nothing but gratitude towards all the people we worked with at the label and feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to make the records we made while with the label.
We'll be getting back out on the road starting with a handful of radio station festival shows early this December. Our friend Jay Weinberg will be sitting behind the drum kit for us, which we're very excited about. In January we're going to be heading out with Fences and Cheap Girls for a couple weeks before joining the Dropkick Murphy's in their month long celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Specifics about all the shows should be up on the website shortly if they aren't already. At some point this new year we also hope to reschedule the Australia, Europe and the U.K. canceled tour dates.
Again, our sincerest apologies to all our fans for the cancellations."

Against Me's Tom Gabel solo project details revealed
Tom Gabel will hit the road without his Against Me! bandmates on October 31st. Tom will be joined by Chuck Ragan (Hot Water Music), Ben Nichols (Lucero), and Tim Barry (Avail) on the Revival Tour. The frontmen will trade off playing solo sets of their own songs as well as collaborating on each others material.
Gabel is launching the tour in support of his upcoming seven-song solo EP, entitled "Heart Burns," which will be released on CD, digitally and on vinyl by Sire Records on October 28th. Inspired by the country's current political and cultural landscape, Gabel began to write new songs in January. Due to the topical and timely subject matter, he wanted to release them around the upcoming Presidential election.
The centerpiece of the EP is "Anna Is A Stool Pigeon," which Gabel wrote after reading about environmental activist Eric McDavid (www.supporteric.org) who was convicted in 2007 of conspiring to use explosives to damage corporate and government property after being implicated by an undercover FBI informant who posed as an activist. McDavid's defense has argued that he was the victim of entrapment. He currently faces a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
"What struck me most about the story was a sense of familiarity," Gabel says. "I know the scene he was a part of, I used to be a part of it myself. I've thought the same thoughts, talked the same talk. I've hung out with the same people, gone to similar protests. If Eric could have become the target of an FBI sting operation, then so could I. This could have been me."
