Last month my parents were up from Florida visiting, so we spent one afternoon in Princeton having lunch in Palmer Square and checking out all of it's darling shops. We then took the good old self guided walking tour through the university's campus.
That's my dad in the picture above. Good looking guy isn't he? In 2011 he was diagnosed with vascular dementia. I know how important to spend as much time as possible with him now as this disease will eventually take him completely away from me. I love him so much...he has always been, along with my mommy, one of my greatest cheerleaders, forever supporting me and cheering me on no matter what I chose to pursue My daddy was always the guy who could fix anything, but sadly as this disease process progresses, he will gradually begin to have more difficulty completing the most simplest of tasks.
We all enjoyed our little trip into Princeton. Palmer Square is filled with wonderful restaurants like Winberies, and the shopping includes anchor stores Brooks Brothers, J. Crew and Ralph Lauren.
Gracie with her grandparents. My mom is 85 and dad just turned 79.
I simply marvel at Princeton's amazing architecture every time I see it.
The last time we were here was in January, so all of the pretty plants and foliage were lying dormant.
My mother with Grace and my beautiful sister Kim. Three generations of lovely ladies!
I truly hope you are enjoying this extra long weekend with those you love.

What great pictures and you all look so happy. I've never been to Princeton so the pictures were terrific.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your father - sounds like a wonderful man. That disease is so terrible and I wish they could find out more about it and cure it.
Have a great Labor Day.

What a beautiful campus (and I'm so glad your father was able to visit with you. It is a memory you and your your children will certainly cherish)! I loved visiting Princeton and marveling at the beautiful architecture. We also made a stop at a funny roadside attraction that commemorates the 1938 "Martian Landing" in Grover's Mill :) You can read more about it on Roadside America: http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/2749

Beautiful post. Stunning photographs.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Princeton, but I've always heard that it's a beautiful campus. Those ivy covered walls are showing me why it's called the Ivey League. The photo through the archways is my favorite.
