Thanks to Bear Grips for these bands. All thoughts are my own. This post contains affiliate links. |
Taking the time to work out, even at home, is very important. I must admit-it's a habit that I struggle with, given my crazy work schedule that often includes filled days and evenings. In the past, I've tried joining a gym and fitness classes, telling myself that by placing them in my calendar in advance, I would fulfill the mission, but often meetings ran late or extra events popped up that would change my week.
Thus, the mission to create a home gym developed, but with lack of space, I'm limited on what kind of equipment I can purchase and utilize. Bear Grips provides items for at- home and gym workouts, such as resistance bands, wrist wraps, and workout belts. Fitness accessories are designed to keep joints and muscles safe and give the best workout experience possible. Strength training is just as important as cardio, especially as we age, and my doctors are always asking if I'm doing something to support bone health.
Bear Grips resistance bands are the perfect accompaniment to my workout because they are lightweight, require minimal storage, and can be carried on all my work travel trips. I've been testing out a set of cloth elastic exercise bands meant for the hips, booty, and legs.
These are longer straps made of cotton. Flexible but sturdy enough, these grips don't pull, snap, or shred like the plastic ones I've used before. Inner Grips keep bands from moving too much, but still allow flexibility with movements.
Resistance bands provide a great workout and are a wonderful addition to weights. This set has three bands: light (15-25 lbs), medium (25- 40 lbs), and heavy (40-55 lbs) at 40 inch long, 1.18 inch wide.
Each band can be adjusted along during your sets as well. I've been following an online trainer, and she's explained how to adjust bands using your body as resistance.
For many upper arm workouts, holding the bands down with one or two feet gives different resistance leverage while doing sets of bicep or tricep curls. Mat workouts utilize your shoulders and back to adjust resistance levels. Bands provide resistance on the way up and down during the movement.
The long length of these bands means that they are also great for squats, for full body workouts, and can be doubled up if needed. Anchors can also make these bands useful if you wish to do leg curls, presses, etc.
As with all exercise moves, be aware of your body posture and use deliberate movements, just as you would with weights. It's amazing how you will feel your muscles, even the smaller groups, with resistance bands!
Bear Grips has made workouts fun with colorful band designs. Those ugly colored plastic bands never really gave me much inspiration, but when I grab one of the pink, purple, or teal bands in this set, I find myself more motivated because I LIKE the workout equipment.
It's not easy, but this holiday season, keep your routines and grab a set of resistance bands from Bear Grips. These would make great stocking stuffers for the avid athlete in your family, too! Plus-resistance bands are also great for PT and mobility, so they are virtually for everyone, not just the heavyweight lifter champions.
