The Bela-Bela Local Municipality is situated in the Waterberg District
Municipality within the Southern part of the Limpopo Province. The total municipal
area (both urban and rural) is 4000 square km. The Municipality share borders with
Gauteng, Mpumalanga and North West Provinces.

It has a population of close to 100 000 with the Tourism industry being the main
driver of the Local Economy and by far, the largest contributor to the District's
GDP.

The area has pleasantly mild climate during the winter months and an
average of 286 sunny days every year and this adds to the popularity of
the destination. During the summer months, the temperatures ranged
between 15,7 ° C - 29 ° C and during the winter months the temperature
ranges between 6,7 °C - 24,0 °C.

South Africa's National Route (N1) runs through the municipality and the
town's main Central Business District (CBD) area is only 10 km away from
this major route. The Municipality is situated within very close
proximity of three major cities in South Africa.

Bela-Bela is 144 km from the provincial capital Polokwane, 170 km from
Johannesburg, the capital city of Gauteng which is also one of the
biggest cities in Africa and 100 km from the administrative capital of
South Africa, Pretoria. The Johannesburg International Airport is 150 km
from Bela-Bela.
