Native to the Caucasus area (Georgia, Azerbijan, Armenia and Southern
Russia) and parts of North Iran. This tree is rarely found in North
America or Europe.
Caucasian Oak (quercus
macranthera)
The Caucasian Oak is adapted to growing in high
mountainous area. At maturity it reaches a height of 25m (80ft). It is a
deciduous tree.
The leaves are a semi-glossy green, up to 15cm (6in) long and 5cm (2in) wide.
The bark is typically oak like in appearance and colour.
