Northern Lights with Make it Crafty

It's time for the December challenge at Make it Colourful and wow it's a stonker!

Ok so this was one of those challenges that gave me sleepless nights - I mean proper cold sweats & nightmares type of sleepless nights. I just couldn't get my head round how on earth to tackle it and had a complete brain block & panic.

In the end I decided to pull my big girl pants on and just go for it, and wow I'm pleased I did.  It's one of the things I love about these challenges - they really push you out of your comfort zone - but you often end up creating something you never dreamed you could.

2015.11.25 - MIC Northern Lights 1

I printed the scene out twice and fussy cut around the lake and hills before adding quicky glue around the top edge. Once it had dried into a repositional adhesive I placed it down as a mask. I then used my Copic Airbrush System to create the sky. It's the first time I've used it and I love the results. As a final touch I added twinkling stars with Sakura Stardust Gel Pen.

2015.11.26 - MIC Northern Lights 4

I added a very subtle hint of the Aurora colours on the snow covered hills along with Wink of Stella. I do love how shimmery snow can reflect light and colours. I added shimmery snow (Sakura Stardust) to the upside of the tree branches.
