Best Day | Cocoa Vanilla Studio | Bloom & Grow

Thursday, 27 February 2025

Hey everyone, here is my latest layout for Cocoa Vanilla Studio using the fabulous Bloom & Grow collection. I used the gorgeous white & aqua striped paper for the background and went for a classic grid design for my four photos. I added two large embellishment clusters consisting of Ephemera, Floral Ephemera and stickers from the Accessory Sticker Sheet.

I also made my title from a mixture of a word from the Deck the Halls Gold Puffy Titles pack, and the Bloom & Grow mini Puffy Alphabet Stickers. I finished off with gold hearts, mini puffy hearts and splatters of white paint!

Happy scrapping

Mini Album | Simple Stories | For the Record Collection

Friday, 21 February 2025

Hey everyone, I’m super excited to share a mini-album with you today using the For the Record Collection! The album structure itself is very easy to make: it’s just a front cover, covered in patterned paper and then little patterned paper pages inside with lots of photos and embellishments added!

The album documents a day out with my little boy – he has been learning about the Great Fire of London 1666 at school, and has been totally captivated by the subject, so we went on a little adventure to London to visit the Monument and climb all 311 steps up to the top (phew, that was a struggle!!), and then to visit Pudding Lane. There are also some photos in there of a model he made of the fire too. There was never going to be a themed collection about the Great Fire of London, lol, so I’d been looking to use something quite generic with bold colours in it to document these photos – and For the Record was PERFECT!

I started off with the outer cover, which I just cut from a piece of white card. I then covered it with the gorgeous bold colourful striped paper on the outside. I then covered the inside with yellow patterned paper.

I cut my pages mostly from the 6x8 paper pad. I layered these inside each other to create two little booklets. I then placed these in the spine and machine stitched them in place for a really firm hold. My machine stitching then showed through on the outside edge of the spine, so I just covered it up using another strip of the same striped paper.

Then I started decorating! I used a title from the Foam Stickers on the front cover ‘happy together’ together with some Journaling Bits, Floral Bits and Chipboard. I also added a piece of ribbon around the outside of the whole album so I could tie it closed.

On the inside of the front and back covers, I used larger Journaling Bits and pieces cut from the Journaling Elements patterned paper. Of course I also added lots more pretty Bits: Bits & Pieces, Floral Bits, and some Decorative Brads and Cardstock Stickers.

For my internal pages, at only 3x3” I could only use small embellishments, especially as I had 26 photos to fit in too! I utilised all the small pieces from the Cardstock Stickers, Floral Bits, Journaling Bits, Bits & Pieces and Sentiment Bits. I also used lots of Decorative Brads throughout the album and a few Foam Stickers too.

Those little tags from the 6x8 paper pads are an excellent size for mini albums! I used a few of these which I tied through with various different ribbons. I used some of these just for decoration but some I used to add journaling too.

I made some of the pages interactive: there are two pocket pages, one concertina fold out page and two flip-out pages. I love having interactive elements in my mini albums. Some of the pages are for photos, some are just for journaling and some are just decorative. It’s great to have a mixture throughout!

I absolutely loved making this project, it was so fun to make and the For the Record collection was perfect and so easy to create with! I hope you have enjoyed reading about it too.

Happy scrapping

Fun Times Together | Cocoa Vanilla Studio | Bloom & Grow

Thursday, 13 February 2025

Here is a new layout for Cocoa Vanilla Studio using the beautiful Bloom & Grow collection. For this layout I was determined to use the birds paper as my photos are from a day out at a zoo (sort of!) and we saw loads of tropical birds there so this paper was ideal. I used a large piece of it over on the right side of the layout.

I created two photo strips from some smaller photos which I mounted onto contrasting blue patterned paper. I added lots of pretty florals and soe embellishments along with my title ‘fun times together’ which is a mixture of a word from the Deck the Halls Gold Puffy Titles pack, and the Bloom & Grow mini Puffy Alphabet Stickers.

I love how it turned out and am totally in love with the Bloom & Grow collection!

Happy Birthday | Cocoa Vanilla Studio | Bloom & Grow

Monday, 27 January 2025

Hey everyone, here is a new layout for Cocoa Vanilla Studio using the beautiful Bloom & Grow collection.  I added a large torn strip of blue floral paper across the layout together with a woodgrain strip, and then I added lots of gorgeous florals: some are fussy cut and some are Floral Ephemera.

I added a label sticker for my title and journaling. I added the word ‘happy’ as part of my title, which is from the Gold Puffy Titles pack from the Deck the Halls collection. I’m on a mission to use up the last of the remaining words from that pack and am now at the stage of only having a few single words left, so it was fun to try and think of how to use them by extending them with the Mini Puffy Alphabet stickers from the Bloom & Grow collection. I simply added ‘birthday’ in the little letters to make the perfect title! (It’s his birthday in the photo!)

I finished off with phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet and some gold fabric hearts and some puffy hearts too. I love how this one turned out and it was quick and easy to make!

Sweet | Simple Stories | Heartstrings

Wednesday, 22 January 2025

Hey everyone, here is another layout for Simple Stories using the gorgeous Heartstrings collection! This time I wanted to use that simply fabulous heart paper as a main feature on my layout, so I started by cutting a large piece of it to use on the right side. I fussy cut around the hearts to give a shaped edge.

I used two photos, stacked together in the middle and added a sticker of bunting from the Cardstock Stickers in the middle, this added a bit of separation between the two photos.

I added two titles: ‘Sweet’ from the Foam Stickers, and ‘adorbs’ from the Cardstock Stickers. There are so many lovely titles on the Foam Stickers and lots can be used generically instead of just for Valentine themed photos.

I added a few embellishments around my photos: flowers from the Floral Bits and a gumball machine from the Bits & Pieces – so cute! I also added a few of the phrase stickers from the Cardstock Stickers, I always love to use those as the phrases are always brilliant and so easy to use!

I added a few Decorative Brads and some Enamel Dots. I also handwrote my journaling and finished off with some splatters of white paint! I think it turned out really cute!

Thanks so much for joining me today and happy scrapping!

Love | Simple Stories | Heartstrings

Hey everyone, here is a new layout for Simple Stories using the gorgeous Heartstrings collection. I always love Valentine’s collections and this one is no exception, I particularly love the colour palette, with pinks, oranges and reds are just fabulous and I love the pops of blue and green too!

For this layout I wanted to showcase the papers, so I cut nine hearts out of different papers. I distressed the edges of each one and raised them on foam pads onto a white background. For the middle heart I wanted to include a heart-shaped photo, so I used one of my hearts as a template to draw around the part of the photo I wanted, and then hand-cut slightly within those lines to make my photo slightly smaller than the patterned paper heart. This way it had a nice border around the edge.

I then set about making each of my hearts into a mini scrapbook page! Lots of the hearts have a small photo. We had a ‘gal-entines’ party for my daughter and her friends – they go to a girls’ school so there are no boyfriends on the scene so they decided to celebrate their gal friendships instead! At the party we had cookie decorating, lots of pretty decorations, pizza, music and lots of silly fun! So all the little photos show some of those things.

I was worried the small photos were a little too big to go on the hearts, but at the right angle they looked ok and the hearts still maintained their heart-shape without too much being covered. Some of the hearts contain titles from the Sentiment Bits, and the bottom right heart has a little clipboard journaling spot, for me to write my journaling.

I added Floral Bits to each heart together with Bits & Pieces, some of the small hearts from the Foam Stickers, Decorative Brads and some phrase stickers from the Cardstock Stickers.

I finished off with a few splatters of black paint – I love the pops of black in the collection so the black splatters were the perfect addition!

I love how this one turned out! Happy scrapping
