Glastonbury music festival organiser Michael Eavis is to pick up an honorary doctorate from the University of Bath for his services to the arts on Monday.
The 69-year-old has organised the event on his Somerset farm since 1970.
"The award is just fantastic," he said. "I think I deserve it after slinging about in the mud for 30 years.
"I'm quite excited about it really. I've planned a speech and I've got a few jokes in it to warm everyone up. It really is a great honour."
Mr Eavis will be awarded a Doctor of Arts degree at a ceremony at the city's Assembly Rooms.
'Delighted'
His festival is the UK's top rock event and attracts more than 100,000 people every year. Mr Eavis donates large sums from ticket sales to charity.
A University of Bath spokesman said: "We will be delighted to award Mr Eavis an honorary doctorate.
"His contribution to the arts, by giving millions of people the chance to see the best of rock music live on stage, has been very important."
An honorary Doctor of Laws degree will also be offered to Dame Elizabeth Butler-Sloss, who served as a judge of the High Court, Family Division before becoming a Lord Justice of Appeal.
