Barriers brought to River Severn
Flood barrier in Hylton Road, Worcester
Flood barriers may be going up in Worcester at the weekend
The Environment Agency is monitoring the level of the River Severn in case heavy rain causes flooding.

Flood barriers will be brought from Kidderminster to Upton-upon-Severn and Worcester on Saturday night and put up on Sunday if river levels rise.

Work on the new £5m flood defence scheme in Hereford has also been halted because the River Wye is rising.

There was heavy rain earlier in the week and the agency said more rain was expected over the weekend.

The agency said there was a flood warning for the River Severn at Shrewsbury and flood watches on the whole of the Severn, the River Churnet, River Tean and the River Wye in Hereford.

Roads in Herefordshire, including Watery Lane in Hereford, were closed during Friday morning because of flooding.

The A4110, Walford Junction to Adforton was closed for most of Friday as was the A438 in Hereford.

Police were called out during the night to deal with trees and branches in roads across south Warwickshire - in Sambourne, Tidings, Calverton, Kenilworth and Henley-in Arden.
