Terror charge student trial set

A Bristol student accused of failing to disclose information about an alleged terrorist plot has appeared before magistrates in London.

Hashi Ahmed Omer, 18, a Somalian from Bristol, appeared at the City of Westminster Magistrates.

He was charged in connection with the case of Andrew Ibrahim, arrested in April, by anti-terrorism officers in Bristol.

Mr Omer will remain on bail, with his trial due to start on 12 September.

'Police investigation'

Mr Omer, of Easton in Bristol, was arrested on 16 June by Avon and Somerset Police counter-terrorism officers and his home searched as part of their investigation into Mr Ibrahim.

Mr Ibrahim, from Westbury-on-Trym, has been remanded in custody to await trial.

Mr Ibrahim is accused of being in possession of two home-made vests, ball bearings, nails and screws.

He is also charged with making or having an explosive - hexamethylene triperoxide diamine - with intent.

His trial is expected to begin in January next year.
