    Great increase in network speed!
I have some equipment in my home running on a 10Gb network, but my home office is separate from that equipment and I do not feel up to trying to run fiber through my house. Since I already have ethernet in the walls, I decided to test if it could handle 2.5Gb speeds (I was worried). Since this was a test, I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I looked at several switches, and though I generally stick to certain brands, I decided to give this one a try. These are the pros and cons of this switch and why I selected it:Pros:- It's small, has metal body, and it seems well built. It's far from plastic junk.- It has two SFP+ ports! That was just what I needed for this test.- It's speeds are good over 2.5Gb and 10Gb. See the photo of my speed tests on 1Gb and then 2.5Gb.- Inexpensive. Really inexpensive. Each one was less than $40.Cons:- Unknown brand and I am suspicious by nature. I may run Wireshark to see if anything unusual is going on. I am not a security expert, so I may not be able to recognize suspicious activity. I do have a network security application running, so maybe it will alert if anything unusual is going on.My scenario:I bought two of these switches. One is in a rack with equipment running on a 10Gb switch and one is in my equipment room. I have four devices in the rack connected to a 10Gb switch. Since I needed to connect this 2.5Gb switch to the 10Gb switch with a 10Gb SFP cable, that meant I had to disconnect one device. This was not a problem because I was able to use one of the two SFP+ ports on the 2.5Gb switch. The other SFP+ port was connected to the 10Gb switch (see the photo). I was worried the speed might suffer between the two switches, but that was not the case.I then connected the 2.5Gb switch in the rack to my network. I located that cable in the equipment room and connected it to the other 2.5Gb switch. I got instant orange lights indicating a 2.5Gb speed. I hustled to my home office and tested my new PC with 2.5Gb. I saw a major speed improvement (see the image of the speed transfer using the same test file). It turns out the ethernet cable in my house was fine (this house is almost 20 years old).I don't do a lot of big file transfers from my office PC, but I do work on files on devices located in the rack in the basement. This was sometimes annoying slow over 1Gb.I am very happy with these switches. Even though I purchased them to test if 2.5Gb was possible in my house, I plan on keeping them in use until I need to replace them for more ports or if they die. I will update this review if one or both die.I may now increase my internet plan to 2.5Gb.

Just upgraded my home network with a new router that was capable of 2.5Gb/s, so in the process of switching out some other hardware I chose these switches. Picked up 4 of them and they work great

Works fine with both SFP+ ports in use: a 10G DAC connected to my NAS, and a 10G optical going to my main switch. People complaining about not being able to use both ports probably are exceeding some power threshold with RJ45 transceivers, those are known for using a lot of juice and generate a lot of heat. No issues using generic-coded FS transceivers, I'm getting the full link speed and performance.

On the 2.5Gbe RJ45 ports, I can power a Ruckus R750 AP at full speed but I needed to manually set the power mode to 802.3at, as it was defaulting to 802.3af. Some reason it wouldn't auto-negotiate the higher power mode, but the switch delivers at the higher setting just fine. On the other ports I have a couple UGreen 2.5Gbe to usb3 adapters for my workstations, and a basic Netgear 1gb switch for additional ports for my slower devices.

So I can mix POE and non-POE devices on this switch, but I encountered 1 issue when I connected directly to the 1Gbe RJ45 port on my gaming rig (Asus X570-i mobo), the switch would just completely shut down and would not come back up until I disconnected this one. Its connected fine now via the 1Gb non-poe switch in between. So mixed results mixing devices and ymmv.

5.0 out of 5 stars Switch scheint Top zu sein. (Update am relevantesten)
Reviewed in Germany on July 23, 2024
