Rado collaborates again with Tej Chauhan

In 2020, the watchmaker collaborated for the first time with British designer Tej Chauhan in presenting the Rado True Square X Tej Chauhan. Today, it unveils a second joint creation based on one of the brand’s icons, the Rado DiaStar Original. At the heart of this timepiece, the designer has incorporated his approach to “emotional industrial design”.

For this new redesign exercise, the dominant material was Ceramos. As a result, the artist focused first and foremost on the colour. He initially considered shades of green, but finally settled on a watch industry favourite: gold. The Ceramos bezel attired in yellow gold-toned PVD treatment echoes the case middle and the stainless steel crown, both of which feature the same coating. The caseback is fitted with a sapphire crystal engraved with the inscription “Special Edition Tej Chauhan”.

The matt black dial is proudly displayed through a radial-facetted sapphire crystal. It strikes an elegant contrast with the minutes scale printed in silver-toned and blue colours also used for the applied indexes placed at five-minute intervals. The Rado logo appears in sandblasted black gold, while the word “Automatic” is in a shade of silver.

The central hours and minutes hands are coated with white Super-LumiNova, while the neon yellow-painted seconds hand is another striking element on the dial and the date window at 3 o’clock features Tej Chauhan’s signature font.

At the heart of this watch beats in-house Calibre R764, an automatic movement with an 80-hour power reserve and water resistance to 100 metres. A grey pillow-shaped rubber strap rounds off the design of this timepiece.
