I was recently invited to try out a new site called ShopBack which promises to give you cash back for your online shopping. I went to try it and see what it's all about and if it's really about getting actual CASH BACK.
ShopBack helps you get the best deals and discounts on 300+ online stores, plus Cashback! Cashback is really just "getting cash back". When you spend online through ShopBack, they give you a portion of your purchase back as Cashback. You can withdraw this Cashback from your ShopBack account right into your Paypal or SG bank account (POSB, UOB etc).
Basically, ShopBack earns a commission from merchants whenever you shop via their website. And instead of pocketing the commission all to themselves (which practically all Discount code sites do!), ShopBack gives a portion back to you, the buyer. So I'm all for shopping through ShopBack, since it benefits me by getting a % of my purchases back in cash. Plus, they include websites that I already buy from quite regularly anyway.. like Lazada, Honestbee, TaoBao, Apple, ASOS, Foodpanda.... there's more than 300 merchants.
I'm planning my flights and accommodation for a trip to Thailand in January, and I'm thrilled to find the lastest Expedia discount codes on ShopBack. The coupons I used are for Daily Deals with up to 60% discount and I will also get up to 6% CashBack. I can withdraw all that for some extra spending cash to take with me on our holiday in a couple months. :)

I'm sure many of you are already familiar with online shopping, especially for cheap deals at Taobao... just watch this quick video on how to use Shopback to shop at Taobao or Tmall and get your cashback for purchases there. The same method applies to all other stores listed at ShopBack (You get 11% cashback for your Taobao or Tmall purchases)
It's pretty straight forward:
- Click on any store through ShopBack and get redirected to the store's website
- Shop as usual on store's site and make a purchase
- Get Cashback in your ShopBack account within 48 hours, under the 'Pending' tab
- Your Cashback will turn 'Redeemable' once order is validated by the merchant. This will take 30-60 days to ensure that there is no order cancellation/return/exchange
- You can request for payout once you've reached Redeemable Cashback of $10.00
Wish I found out about this earlier... I buy most of my stuff online. It's ok, now is the perfect timing for Christmas shopping! You can get started and shop with a Lazada voucher, or simply grab the latest online shopping coupons. Have fun! :)
