Hi - I see you have recently created a new stub type. As it states at Wikipedia:Stub, at the top of most stub categories, and in many other places on Wikipedia, it is recommended that new stub types are proposed prior to creation at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, in order to check whether the new stub type is already covered by existing stub types, whether it is named according to stub naming guidelines, whether it reaches the standard threshold for creation of a new stub type, and whether it crosses existing stub type hierarchies. Your new stub type is currently listed at WP:WSS/D - please feel free to make any comments there as to any rationale for this stub type. And please, in future, consider proposing new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 01:49, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cyril - you wrote:Thanks for the criminology-stub comments. I think the parent category should stay as it is, criminology is definitely fit to an umbrella term for many categories, still, it's better to seperate forensic science and medicine from the criminology category.
Certainly it should stay in some of the parent categories it has, but one or two of them seem a little odd - I'm not sure why it should have been in a biography stub category, for instance 9the other way round may have made more sense). On the whole, though, it looks like the stub is acceptable and, if anything, it may be the earlier forensics stub category that needs to be looked at, since it hasn't really grown to the size where it would be very useful for editors. BTW, thanks for accepting my comments about the stub type so well - a lot of editors grumble very loudly when stub types they've created are questioned! Usurpations

I have denied the usurpation as the matter has not been discussed by the community. There are many issues that need to be discussed such as legal and technical. Other issues include a maximum number of edits, the time duration, and the legal impact of the forced attribution change. =Nichalp «Talk»= 16:43, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This needs to be put up on Wikipedia:Village pump (policy), with a CC link on WP:BN and the talk page of WP:CHU/U. Since the topic is going to be contentious, it would be advisable to create a new page/subpage somewhere. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 04:53, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

Thanks for the barnstar! Mikieminnow 22:37, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cyril,

Thanks for your note. I'm afraid that I'm not seeing the same problems that you are on Breaking Benjamin. After my unprotection, there have been only three edits; of those three, two were part of an edit and subsequent self-revert. Perhaps you were thinking of a different, but related, page? — TKD::Talk 02:50, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Posted a reply on your userpage. Thanks.--Cyril Thomas 16:53, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Usually, when an anonymous user makes an edit and quickly reverts himself/herself, I don't make a big deal out of it unless it's accompanied by other troublesome edits; the user was probably experimenting. I don't know why you would have gotten any errors when editing; perhaps there was a database hiccup or the server was busy at that moment. — TKD::Talk 06:38, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Revert and Speedy Deletion

Dear Cyril,

I have checked my contributions and I can't find any mention of the revert. Are you sure it was me? I did warn the creator, but not on that page.

Dear Cyril,
Ah, I get it now! I did know that the vandal was also the creator, but I had trouble finding the right template. Thank you for your kind comments, nice to meet you too.

Three translation requests

Hello! I have a request for translation entry help on Wiktionary. Could you add the Malayalam translations for the following pages?

Please note that both "parrot" and "listen" have multiple definitions and multiple translations sections. Thanks for any help you can provide! --EncycloPetey 00:08, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have the same problem when I want to add words in Ancient Greek. The best option I have found is to copy and paste each letter from a page that lists them. For Malayalam, there is a Wikipedia article on Malayalam script, though I don't know whether it contains all the charatcers or not. My own browser isn't even set up to display Malayalam. --EncycloPetey 23:40, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Protection for George VI of the United Kingdom page?

Hmm well it has been attracting a lot of vandals, you're right.. they've all been blocked but I dare say they'll be back with new accounts. I have to leave Wikipedia for a while now, but keep your eye on the article and if any more vandalism appears then yeah it might be an idea. LibLord 16:22, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You list the image as GFDL-self, but it appears to be the same image as used on his official profile, so it seems to be a work of a staffer. Care to clarify? Night Gyr (talk/Oy) 05:32, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Trialskokiewiki.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Trialskokiewiki.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:15, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
