English: Allahabad, a city of “Sangam”, has been a centre of learning and excellence since ancient times. Education has been the USP of Allahabad. The University of Allahabad established in 1887, rose to status of “Oxford of the East” that has been the Alma Mater of several civil servants, legal experts, academicians, entrepreneurs, business tycoons and even political leaders who have reached the pinnacle of power. From July, 2005, the Central Government has declared the University of Allahabad to be an institution of national importance. The University of Allahabad Act 2005 now makes it a Central University. Motilal Nehru Institute of Research & Business Administration (MONIRBA), the flagship, management Institute of University of Allahabad, has also been contributing to the glorious record of University since its inception.
