Susan
Carole Ann Ford

"You can't possibly complete the equation unless you take into consideration the fourth and fifth dimensions!"

The first companion of the Doctor, Ford's 'Susan Foreman' is very dependant on her grandfather. Susan has entered into Coal Hill Secondary School to study and learn more about Earth and it's inhabitants. It is also a great cover as she appears to be the same age as all of the other schoolbound teens. There is only one problem with this, her Grandfather, the Doctor, has been giving her lessons in temporal physics and she has the advantage of having already seen Earth's history. This creates interesting problems when she confronts her teachers about Math and History. When Barbara and Ian, two of her teachers, become concerned with her behaviour they follow her 'home' only to discover she lives in a Police Box... Carole Ann Ford later appears in a reunion episode with William Hurndall filling in for William Hartnell as the original Doctor. In the picture to the right, taken from The Five Doctors we see Susan standing outside the TARDIS. Ford starred in the following episodes of Doctor Who:

  • An Unearthly Child
  • The Daleks
  • The Edge of Destruction
  • Marco Polo
  • The Keys of Marinus
  • The Aztecs
  • The Sensorites
  • The Reign of Terror
  • Planet of Giants
  • The Dalek Invasion of Earth
  • The Five Doctors
