35

36
The chart application shows how straight-forward it is to create
37applications and their dialogs with Qt. Creating menus and toolbars is
38easy and Qt's signals and slots
39mechanism considerably simplifies GUI event handling.
40
Manually creating layouts can take some time to master, but there is
41an easy alternative: Qt Designer.
42Qt Designer includes simple but
43powerful layout tools and a code editor. It can automatically generate
44main.cpp and the .pro project file.
45
The chart application is ripe for further development and
46experimentation. You might consider implementing some of the following
47ideas:
48

49
Use a QValidator subclass to ensure that only valid doubles are
50entered as values.
51
Adding more chart types, e.g. line graph, area graph and hi-lo
52graph.
53
Allowing the user to set top, bottom left and right margins.
54
Allowing the user to specify a title which they can drag into
55position like the labels.
56
Providing an axis drawing and labelling option.
57
Providing an option to provide a key (or legend) instead of labels.
58
Adding a 3D look option to all chart types.
59
