Il existe beaucoup d'interprétations du mot "standard" ou "standards" sur beaucoup d'organisations.
La définition qui correspond peut-être le mieux à l'utilisation des termes "standard" ou "standards" eu égard aux microformats est la suivante :
"Something, such as a practice or a product, that is widely recognized or employed, especially because of its excellence."
