If you're on the fence about downloading this app, let me tell you, it's a winner. It's fun and educational, no pesky ads, has a solid offline mode, and did I mention it's free? My three-year-old is absolutely obsessed with it, even more than I thought he'd be. He's belting out the songs, secretly practicing those tricky long vowel sounds in the car, and he's becoming a tech whiz – tapping, dragging, navigating menus, you name it, he's got it down. He's totally hooked. I only introduced him to the app once, and the next day, he's already begging to play his "new game". This app is gonna be a godsend for those endless car rides, and I won't have to worry about keeping him entertained. Seriously, grab it! It's fantastic. It's incredibly fun and captivating for toddlers, teaching them all sorts of things, plus there's a section with read-along books that my kiddo absolutely adores. It's boosted her confidence in using words, giving her that extra push she needed. I'd much rather have her playing with this kind of app than mindlessly scrolling through YouTube or other non-learning stuff.

Having downloaded a number of supposedly educational apps for preschoolers, trying them one at a time and rapidly deleting most of them, I finally stumbled upon Khan Academy kids!

All the other apps, while saying we are free, seem to have in-app purchases, or pop-ups for advertisements, or pop-ups for upgrading the app to a paid version, not to mention I often have found myself having to very closely assist my four year old in order to get through a task or move on to the next one. The ads are distracting and the offers of prizes and coins are as well.

With Khan Academy Kids none of this is true. It is absolutely free. I've hardly even received an email from them. And those that I have have been informative. There are no weird pop-ups, no in-app purchases, nothing to upgrade to. Nothing to distract your kid from actually focusing on learning while using the app.

The app itself is super easy and straightforward, my four-year-old would continue using it for over an hour if I gave her the opportunity. She loves the characters and the occasional prizes. I like how it is low energy, in that there aren't flashing lights and Loud musical sounds and boisterous animation that just seems to distract.

She can sit with the app without any need for my intervention. And she learns! which is, at the end of the day, what you're looking for. After she finishes using the app she tells me all about what she's learned, and she's very excited.

This is her favorite app, it somehow manages to find the perfect balance between engagement, fun, and being truly educational.

I downloaded Khan Academy Kids (after hearing an interview with the creator on NPR) for my 4 1/2 year old grandaughter and she looks forward to playing everyday. It is fun and easy for her to use with age appropriate activities that are sometimes a little tricky if she isn''t paying attention to the instructions She enjoys the characters and the lessons. We had another, popular, educational program for months but she lost interest for some reason. Khan Academy Kids program seems to have less 'glitches' than the other one she played and moves to each activity a little faster so she doesn't loose interest waiting. I feel like the variety of lessons are very good and keep her interest - numbers, letters, stories, songs, puzzles, colors, etc. She gets a little "prize" after completing a section. I highly recommend this program for chldren. It is free but today I donated, as they need contributions and I feel like it is a great product!

I've tried several games and apps for my very young grandchildren. This is my newest choice and it's one of the best. It is so basic that my 20 month old grandson can actually manipulate the game on my Kindle. There is usually an activity that is easy and fun. A learning activity follows which is beyond his readiness for learning, but I work thru it with him, knowing that he will pick up part of the lesson, and we can come back when he is at a better stage of development in learning.

My grandson will be 3 in a couple months, and during the pandemic I have been watching him 3 days a week, because he cannot go to daycare. I decided to add this app to my tablet a month ago, and he loves it. It covers so many subjects- letters, numbers, colors, shapes, reading, stories, animals, feelings, logic- the choices are endless. He especially enjoys tracing the letters and numbers on the tablet. Because it is interactive, I think toddlers get a lot more out of it than just watching a video that teaches them about these things (or listening to me, heh.)

The only downside of this app is that he loves it so much that he wants to do it much longer than we want him to. Because we don't want him to have too much screen time, I limit it to about half an hour per day. The first time I turned it off he cried! Since then, I will quickly turn the tablet off and say, "oops the battery is low, time to recharge" and he seems to accept that a bit better, heh.

This is a great tool for keeping your little ones learning, and for those days when you just can't play "cars" one more time, or build one more house with duplo. Highly recommend.

I would give it 5 stars but it only goes up to 2nd grade! What about the other grades in between. I tried to download khan academy but its really only good for high school! My son loves this app but I guess all be deleting soon since it inky goes up to 2nd like mention before it really sucks because this app has really help my son alot.
