Ep.5.01 "From Venus With Love" I'm afraid this is beeing a replica, front doesn't match with real street version of the GT40 |

According to Link to "www.gt40s.com" - "Genuine, it was the Ford press car painted with temporary silver paint." which adds about another car ".. the story of the GT40 that was loaned by Ford for an Autolite (one of Ford's subsidiaries) commercial filmed on Catalina Island. The car was painted with a water based paint often used in commercials to allow one car to be several different vehicles. The water base paint was blasted off the rockers during filming in the wet. The car was filmed in red but was actually white with blue stripe." Press car reference suggests it is P/1008 - /vehicle.php?id=77296 . |

The Avengers car was not the Ford Press car GT40 P/1008. It was GT40 P/1038, one of the car run by Essex Wire at Le Mans in 1966 with race number 59. The building the scene with the car was shot in is a building on the grounds of a school. A friend of mine somehow found that out and contacted the school, sending through screen grabs, and after the contact checked up he reported back to him that the building still had the same windows. A curse upon me, but I have lost the name of the school, and have also lost contact with that friend. The scene was filmed in October 1966, and the episode was first broadcast in February 1967. This information thanks to a book on the Avengers from a good few years back. |
