In fact, also previous series of '70s Opel Rekord(1972-1977)were sold as Chevrolet 2500-4100 after the engines cc.,(not Opel, but British--Vauxhall--and American--Chevy--units respectively, made by GM of South Africa under license);another past attempt to sold Rekord in South Africa happens at end of '60s,when Rekord-B(1966-1972)were marketed as Ranger,Brand followed by a 3-digit number that indicates the CID(=Cubic Inch Displacement),like 250(also here with American engines, not German);were distinguishables for quad rounded headlights(respect the rectangular ones of European Opel Rekord);avaliable bodies were the saloon 4-door and the hardtop coupè(practically, were a sort of South-African 1966-1972 Opel Commodore-B mixed with something of 1967-1972Vauxhall FD Victor--they,meanwhile,lasted until 1973) PS Also in Australia was marketed a similar car(choice of European and US-GM engines)with that body, called Holden (VB) Commodore, launched in the same year of South-African-made Chevrolet Rekord,1978 |
