I can't believe it -- I can't believe they torched a perfectly good Roadmaster! Good scene or not, I weep at the waste of such automotive beauty. |

it looks like stock footage... |

You are quite right, Commander 57. It was a junk that nobody wanted at the time |

My ** sigh ** was in support of yourauntgussie. Even if the car was a "junker" and would have never seen the road again, valuable parts were lost that could have been used on another restoration. -- Last edit: 2016-03-03 21:06:53 |

As mike suggested, it looked like stock footage (I doubt they would have done that for a 2-second scene), so maybe not even intentional; it may be from accidental fire or from much older riot archive pictures (this scene is scene amongst other in riot events). |

I'll try to take solace in that possibility. |

I'm with you, Commander. Thanks for your much-needed emotional support. (snivel, sniff, whiiiiine) My grandfather restored antique cars, so I grew up with an appreciation of automotive beauty, good engineering (It used to happen....), and the "pizzazz" that makes for a true classic car. Bet there's not many women who contribute to your site! -- Last edit: 2016-03-04 18:38:27 |

Everyone is welcomed, especially those who support the preservation of old cars! |

After watching the whole episode, that image struck me as being news footage, so I know that Roadmaster was reduced to ash back in 1965. (I'm pretty sure they used only actual Watts footage -- goodness knows there was plenty of it.) rjuna, thanks for the URL. That footage site is dynamite! 'Preciate your response -- it could be useful in oh, so many ways! -- Last edit: 2016-03-19 17:27:07 |
