Converting $1,000,000 into troy ounces and then into pounds avoirdupois gives 1,959.184 pounds, or an additional two tons. 1961 Rancheros had an 800 pound payload, and I assume the 1964 would be similar. That poor, overloaded, little pickup truck!
G-MANN ◊ 2008-03-05 16:46	Yes, I always wondered how Mr Solo's fee of $1,000,000 in gold bullion could be carried in the trunk of that Lincoln! And even just the cube which the Lincoln is compacted into would be too much for that small pickup! Earlier in the film Bond uses a borrowed gold bar (recovered from the Nazi hoard) to wager in his golf game with Goldfinger, and he is told it is worth £5000, which must have been quite a lot back then, more than enough to buy that DB5 I'm guessing! -- Last edit: 2008-03-05 16:50:17

That poor, overloaded, little pickup truck! Yes, That, poor, overloaded, little pickup truck!!! Surprised the rig didn't fall apart on the way back to Goldfinger's horse farm!! In my opinion, I think they should've used a '64 F-250, That would've been a WAY more logical choice!! The Ranchero probably did have a 289 2 barrel V8 in it though, But I think that a '64 F-250 with either a 292 4 barrel V8 or a 312 4 barrel V8 would've been the BEST way to go!!
