Re: [nafex] soil testing

I do all my soil testing through the local Cooperative Extension of the University. The applications are designed to take all aspects of
past/present/and future uses into consideration.
One important thing to remember about clay soil and calcium is that because the soil particles are so much smaller than in more porous soils, it
takes a lot more calcium to make adjustments. Then there is the problem of incorporating the amendments since drainage is not optimum. Ideally, I try
to amend this type of soil at least one year ahead of planting. I'm stuck with it too!
