Athena Lemnia
This statue is supposed to be a copy of Phidias' Athena Lemnia.
The crosslung aegis anticipates the Athena
of the Parthenon west pediment.
The association of head and body has been wrongly disputed and the
helmet is conjectural (an owl has also been suggested.)
