Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)

PJSC "Radiophysics"

In connection with the intensive development of strategic offensive weapons in the late 1950s, as well as aerospace reconnaissance means, the Government of the USSR decided to create an independent scientific, technical and production base for the development and introduction of special antenna equipment for the needs of radar and communication. To this end, the Order of the Moscow City Executive Committee of the USSR as part of the Mashinostroitelny Zavod im. MV Khrunichev December 31, 1960 formed SKB number 38.

Order of the State Committee of the Council of Ministers of the USSR on radio electronics December 3, 1962. SCS No. 38 was transferred to the Tushino Engineering Plant. In 1960-62, the collective of the enterprise in cooperation with the Central Design Bureau "Almaz" was engaged in the introduction of serial production at the aircraft factory. MV Khrunichev system of the S-75. He participated in the development of the design of the AFS systems C-125 and S-200, introduced into batch production at the plant them. MV Khrunichev, then at the Tushino Machine-Building Plant and the Gorky Aviation Plant. He took a direct part in the development of new technological processes at these plants.

In 1965 SKB No. 38 was allocated to an independent organization and in 1966, By order of the Ministry of Radio Industry of the USSR, the enterprise was given the open designation "Design Bureau of Radio Engineering Devices" (KBRP) . In memory of the outstanding figure of science and technology, Academician A.A. Raspletin, the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR of October 3, 1967, the KBRP was given the name "Design Bureau of Radio Engineering Devices. Academician AA Raspletin ".

KBRP them. Academician AA Raspletin carried out the development, design, technological preparation, organization and scientific and technical support of production, testing, installation, adjustment and author's support during the operation of unique antenna systems, including large-scale antenna arrays of anti-aircraft missile defense systems, ABM, and Other, not having world analogues of experimental installations.

In 1968-78, the enterprise collective participated in the development of the construction of the first in the USSR of a full-rotatable full-active active antenna array of the S-225 system. In the same years, the antenna design of the S-300 (FA-51) system was created and introduced into serial production. The joint tests were completed and the system S-200M (Dubna) was put into operation.

In cooperation with the Institute of Long-Distance Radio Communication since 1962. to 1975g. The designs of waveguide-slot antenna devices with retarding structures for frequency-phased early warning RTS - 5?11, 5?11??, 5?11? were created. Technological processes were implemented to create slowing structures and feeder paths at the Kazan Aviation Plant and the Lianozovo Electromechanical Plant, as well as the original designs of mobile supports at the Kuibyshev Aircraft Plant. This made it possible to create highly reliable structures that have been successfully functioning to the present day.

In the 1970s, the designs of linear antennas from wide-range vibrators for the over-horizon 5N77 and 5H32 radar systems were developed and implemented. In these designs, it was scientifically justified, tested experimentally in conjunction with TsAGI, and introduced a number of solutions to ensure their long-term vibration resistance in the wind flow.

In 1973, commissioned a research and production complex in Moscow on the street. Geroev Panfilovtsev, house 10, which includes a design building, pilot production, engineering support and the largest in Europe anechoic shielded chamber for testing large-sized antennas and their elements. Based on the KBRP them. Academician AA Raspletin established branches in the cities of Gomel (Belarus) and Syzran (Kuibyshev region), and later - in Chistopol (Tataria), where the development of radio engineering devices, structural, radio-transparent and radio-absorbing materials, and also an element base for the created antenna systems. For qualitative targeted training of highly qualified specialists, the Department of Applied Electrodynamics of MIPT and the MAI Antenna Design Department are based on the enterprise.

In 1980, the KBRP them. Academician AA Raspletin was entrusted with carrying out research and experimental works on the investigation of the ways of creating and developing radar facilities with the effect based on new physical principles. In connection with the increased share of research work in the total volume of the enterprise's work and for the further development of scientific and technical potential by the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR of June 29, 1981, the KBRP them. Academician AA Raspletin was given the status of a research institute and 01.08.81. it is renamed to Research Institute of Radiophysics. Academician AA Raspletin (NIIRF).

Along with research on new topics, the Institute continued work on creating antenna systems for commissioned radar complexes for various purposes. So in the 1980-87 gg. the design of a full-rotating FPA of the decimeter range, as well as the design of a large-sized, full-rotating phased array of a centimeter range with an optical method of feeding in the multifunctional ship complex "Atoll".

In cooperation with the Moscow Research Institute of Instrument Engineering, TsNIIMASH and Central Design Bureau "Kometa" since 1962. and until 1986. for the first time, the designs of folding space-based antennas on the AES-4Y43, 4J47 and 11V22 were developed and successfully tested in the conditions of orbital flight and put into operation .. For the creation and testing of new equipment, the Institute decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of 11/02/1985 was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor. In 1986, NIIRF launched the development of advanced radar equipment for defense, dual and civil use in the millimeter wave band. These works are being carried out to the present time.

In 1993, the enterprise was privatized and renamed into the open joint-stock company "Radiophysics", and in 2015, - to the Public Joint Stock Company "Radiophysics". The scope of conversion works has significantly increased in the subject of PJSC "Radiophysics". The study of the sales market made it possible to specify the main directions of research and development. Along with traditional themes, such works as the creation of large-scale satellite earth stations are being carried out, including the provision of an air traffic management system, communications facilities for international space projects, the transmission and reception of telemetry, and so on.
