Ocean 2024 CPX: Border Guard Service, Ministry of Internal Affairs, and National Guard of Russia cooperate with Defence Ministry

In the framework of the Ocean 2024 CPX, units of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Border Directorate of the Federal Security Service, and the Federal Service of the National Guard Troops are deployed to accomplish special tasks in the manoeuvre areas of the fleets and the Caspian Flotilla.

The Border Directorate for Primorsky, Sakhalin, and East Arctic regions dispatched about 15 ships and over 400 personnel. Ships and boats of the FSB Border Directorate for the Primorsky region operate alongside with the warships of the Pacific Fleet, accomplish tasks in waters of the Sea of Japan and at sea ranges of the Pacific Fleet.

In view of the tasks performed by the Russian Federation Ministry of Internal Affairs, an operational group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Central Office was stationed at the Primorsky Regional Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to monitor the performance of operational and service tasks by the internal affairs agencies involved in the exercise. It was made to assess their actions.

Representative groups of the Ministry of Internal Affairs operate in staffs of the Northern, Pacific, Baltic fleets, and the Caspian Flotilla to provide cooperation during the joint operations.

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs provided over 17,000 personnel and more than 2,000 units of support materiel to protect public order and ensure people's safety.

As part of the exercise, the internal affairs agencies are practising the issues to organise cooperation with the military administration bodies, staffs of the fleets and the Caspian Flotilla, and the federal-level executive bodies during joint actions.

According the training plan of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, formations and units of the Russian Navy have started taking part in the Ocean 2024 strategic command post exercise, which is to last until 16 September 2024. The exercise, which is one of the most important operational and combat training events of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2024, is to be conducted in a bilateral format under the overall command of Admiral Aleksandr Moiseyev, the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy.

More than 400 warships, submarines and support vessels, over 120 naval aircraft, some 7,000 units of weaponry, military and special hardware, and more than 90,000 personnel participate in the drills, which take place in the waters of the Pacific and Arctic oceans, Mediterranean, Caspian, and Baltic seas. The Ocean 2024 strategic command post exercise is aimed at checking the readiness of the senior staff of the Russian Navy to operate all-arms groups of forces in the areas of responsibility, to solve non-standard operational tasks, to make full use of high-precision weapons, advanced and modern weapons and military hardware in the practical part of the exercise, and to expand cooperation with the navies of partner countries to perform joint maritime missions.
