Ocean 2024 CPX: Su-35s fighter jets cover amphibious squadron

15.09.2024

Two Su-35s multi-role fighter jets covered an amphibious squadron over the international waters of the Sea of Japan and intercepted a mock enemy during the Ocean 2024 strategic naval drills.

A Pacific Fleet's anti-submarine aircraft acted as an intruder.

The Su-35s fighter jets entered the assigned area and independently identified the target. After that they fired long-range air-to-air missiles at the target.

After completing the tasks, the fighter jets practised air-to-air operations to fight against mock enemy fighter jets which were covering enemy bombers.

According the training plan of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, formations and units of the Russian Navy have started taking part in the Ocean 2024 strategic command post exercise, which is to last until 16 September 2024. The exercise, which is one of the most important operational and combat training events of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2024, is to be conducted in a bilateral format under the overall command of Admiral Aleksandr Moiseyev, the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy.
