Ocean 2024 CPX: Tu-160 long-range bombers perform fly over international waters of East Siberian Sea

Two Tu-160 long-range bombers of the Russian Aerospace Forces made a flight over the international waters of the East Siberian Sea during the Ocean 2024 strategic naval drills.

During the flight, the crew trained to deliver strikes by air-based cruise missiles at the critical objects of the mock enemy.

Moreover, during the sortie, Tu-160 crews practised in-flight refuelling.

The flight duration exceeded 8 hours. Su-35s and Su-30sm aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces escorted the long-range bombers.

According the training plan of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the Russian Navy holds the Ocean 2024 strategic command post exercise. The exercise is conducted in a bilateral format and is one of the most important operational and combat training events of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2024 The Ocean 2024 strategic command post exercise is aimed at checking the readiness of the senior staff to operate all-arms groups of forces in the areas of responsibility, to solve non-standard operational tasks, to make full use of high-precision weapons, advanced and modern weapons and military hardware in the practical part of the exercise, and to expand cooperation with the navies of partner countries to perform joint maritime missions.

According the training plan of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, formations and units of the Russian Navy have started taking part in the Ocean 2024 strategic command post exercise, which is to last until 16 September 2024. The exercise, which is one of the most important operational and combat training events of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2024, is to be conducted in a bilateral format under the overall command of Admiral Aleksandr Moiseyev, the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy.

More than 400 warships, submarines and support vessels, over 120 naval aircraft, some 7,000 units of weaponry, military and special hardware, and more than 90,000 personnel participate in the drills, which take place in the waters of the Pacific and Arctic oceans, Mediterranean, Caspian, and Baltic seas.The Ocean 2024 strategic command post exercise is aimed at checking the readiness of the senior staff of the Russian Navy to operate all-arms groups of forces in the areas of responsibility, to solve non-standard operational tasks, to make full use of high-precision weapons, advanced and modern weapons and military hardware in the practical part of the exercise, and to expand cooperation with the navies of partner countries to perform joint maritime missions.
