Rassvet MRM-1 Module

The Rassvet (Dawn) module MRM-1 launched on May 14, 2010 on the shuttle Atlantis STS-132 mission has been docked in the bottom earth facing Zarya forward docking port. The total mass at launch was 7,893 kilograms (17,400 pounds). It is a S. P. Korolev, Rocket Space Corporation Energiya, Korolev, Moscow region, scientific research cargo module for biotechnology science experiments like conjugation and kristallizator, fluid physics studies and educational module. It measures 6.005 meters (19.7 feet) long with a cylindrical diameter of 2.35 meters (7.7 feet) with a mass of 14,400 kilograms minus its 1,360.80 kilograms cargo. Rassvet offers 176 cubic feet internal volume for research with in the module that is not designed as an EVA airlock like Pirs & Poisk. It does carry a docking port for Progress and Soyuz spacecraft. The spacecraft module was derived from the cancelled for lack of funding habitation Science and Power-supply platform (NEP).
