Germany and Satellite Communication Systems

German experience with GEO telecommunications has mirrored that of France. Germany was an equal partner with France in the Symphonie program. After gaining space communications relay experience, Germany developed a pair of TV-Sat spacecraft in conjunction with France's TDF program. This was followed by the DFS (Deutscher Fernmeldesatellit) Kopernikus series of communications satellites.
