DOD Announces Recruiting and Retention Numbers for February 2010


           

 

The Department of Defense announced today its recruiting and retention statistics for the active and reserve components for February 2010.

Active Component.

Recruiting. Three of the four active services met or exceeded their accession goals for February 2010. The Marine Corps purposefully missed its monthly accession goal to ensure its end strength stays within authorized levels.

• Army - 6,537 accessions with a goal of 6,389; 102 percent
• Navy - 2,941 accessions with a goal of 2,941; 100 percent
• Marine Corps - 906 accessions with a goal of 919; 99 percent
• Air Force - 2,430 accessions with a goal of 2,430; 100 percent

Retention. The Army, Navy, and Marine Corps retained near or above mission goals through the first five months of fiscal 2010. The Air Force missed the retention benchmark of at least 95 percent for Zone A (first term airmen) but made the benchmarks for all other zones.

Reserve Component.

Recruiting. All six reserve components met or exceeded their accession goals for February 2010.

• Army National Guard - 6,607 accessions with a goal of 4,625; 143 percent
• Army Reserve - 2,421 accessions with a goal of 2,292; 106 percent
• Navy Reserve - 454 accessions with a goal of 454; 100 percent
• Marine Corps Reserve - 738 accessions with a goal of 513; 144 percent
• Air National Guard - 554 accessions with a goal of 539; 103 percent
• Air Force Reserve - 735 accessions with a goal of 735; 100 percent

Attrition. Losses in all reserve components are within acceptable limits.
