DoD Announces Recruiting and Retention Numbers for June 2009


           

 

The Department of Defense announced today its recruiting and retention statistics for the active and reserve components for the month of June.

· Active Component.

· Recruiting. All four active services met or exceeded their recruiting goals for June.
· Army – 6,207 accessions with a goal of 6,025; 103 percent
· Navy – 3,428 accessions with a goal of 3,428; 100 percent
· Marine Corps – 4,155 accessions with a goal of 3,655; 114 percent
· Air Force – 2,846 accessions with a goal of 2,835; 100 percent

* Retention. Retention continues to be very strong as all four active component services are meeting or exceeding their June retention goals.


· Reserve Component.

· Accessions. Five of the six components met or exceeded their accession goals for the month of June 2009. The Army National Guard has reduced its accession mission as part of its end strength management program and is on track to achieve its year-end goal.
· Army National Guard – 3,209 accessions with a goal of 3,808; 84 percent
· Army Reserve – 4,091 accessions with a goal of 3,488; 117 percent
· Navy Reserve – 726 accessions with a goal of 726; 100 percent
· Marine Corps Reserve – 1,263 accessions with a goal of 565; 224 percent
· Air National Guard – 867 accessions with a goal of 810; 107 percent
· Air Force Reserve – 836 accessions with a goal of 836; 100 percent

· Attrition. Losses in all reserve components were within acceptable limits.
