Access to the Source Code of Imposed Tax Software |

counting wouldn't be so fast if we had a trustworthy system that encompassed manual recounting of a significant fraction of the votes, as in countries that don't turn democracy into a video game, and instead take it seriously. I'd take trustworthy over fast any time. as it stands, nobody can really tell whether the voting machines (double meaning intended) were running the software signed by parties and public-interest organizations, so the results are worth as much as the paper that the ballots are (not) printed on for analog recounting. of course, there's never been any proof of fraud, because the system is designed to make it impossible. not the fraud, but the proof. 3rd world or not, it's still a banana republic, and proud of it no less

viva, parabéns pra mariana e pra paola!

depending on trade routes, some languages got the word for tea from Min Nan (té), Mandarin (chá), or Cantonese (caa)
A lot of European languages got tea or té over sea trade, while Portuguese got chá (pronounced sha). Hebrew and Yiidish got variations of té, while various languages in India got variations of chay or caya. interestingly, common greetings reverse that pattern, and I like to pretend they're all varieties of this drink: namas-té, sha-lom. In the Pampas-region of Southern Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay, there's che/tchê (as in Che Guevara), that appears to (in)fuse back together the roots té and chá from Spanish and Portuguese. it is precisely on the Pampas that consumption of mate is most prevalent. one might guess ma-té is Spanish for ma-tchá, but that would be a wrong guess; both are grounded leaves used to make infusions for drinking, but mate is a South-American plant, whereas matcha is ground green tea leaves, of the Chinese plant that took over most of the world also as black tea and even the wonderful wulong tea. same plant, different preparation of the leaves. here's to tea. salute, namas-té and sha-lom, tchê! 2024-10-06 18:55 — |
