FREE BIENNIAL: PROJECTS: SET: 500 GOALS
SET: 500 GOALS
LISA RODASTA

My piece is a traveling performance taking place outside of and against various Chelsea galleries on April 6, 2002.

The same pattern will be followed at each location. I will place two 14" long by 3" diameter cement cylinders three feet apart in front of a selected wall of the gallery to form a goal. Four small photographs of the ocean's horizon will be taped to the same wall behind the posts. The cylinders are neatly labeled "desires" and "drives" in a small font on the top. I will kick a soccer ball between the cylinders against the gallery wall.

Each goal will be recorded as "1, goal, 1" then "1, goal, 2" and so on until I reach 500. I will record this by hand while an assistant flips a scoreboard for the viewers' entertainment. I expect to be asked to move on by the occupants of the active building at which time, I will move on to the next location. The scoreboard will reflect each move in the first of the two numbers.

For example, the first building will be scored "1, goal, 1" through "1, goal, 500." The second building will be scored "2, goal, 1" through "2, goal, 500," etc.
