🛑 UPDATE ON LA WILDFIRES & HEARTFELT THANK YOU‼️

📍It's been a difficult two weeks. We've been running on adrenalin & ☕coffee—rescuing during the day, transporting at night🚑, screening/meeting/educating new fosters at midnight, evenings, weekends, nonstop. Despite the challenges, our community has shown remarkable resilience. 1000s of emails 📨 & 100s of reviewed applications ☎️ later, our volunteer team met 73 fosters IN PERSON; 110 buns from evacuated folks were fostered out, bringing the total # of BWF fosters to 300‼️ We’re meeting MORE fosters on Jan 26 to help the remaining 40 buns! 💓🐇

📍 BWF is ‘notorious’ for pulling 50-80 rabbits/month from high-kill shelters, but THIS TIME, our focus was solely on those affected by the LA Wildfires, especially the Eaton Fire 🔥 since many of our adopters, fosters, & volunteers reside in Altadena & Pasadena. We also helped many who evacuated from Brentwood (Palisades fire). This focused effort has made a significant impact on the lives of these animals and their human companions. 💗

🏠Our most significant loss, however, was our adoption space/magical garden in Altadena, which was captured in a Newsweek interview. This space was not just a physical location for adoptions but a symbol of hope & a sanctuary for our rabbits. 🐞Our hostess/foster Kim, who had to evacuate with 6 buns & her diabetic cat (who died during the ordeal), vows to rebuild & host BWF again. 🦋For those who attended Altadena events in the past, please go to our FB page & check out links to the memories that are etched in our hearts forever! 🌹 Roses will bloom again; 🌳🌴 trees will rise from the ashes, 🐦🐿 wildlife will return with a ‘vengeance,’ & beauty will reign once again! Our Adoption location is Altadena has been affected by the Eaton Fire, and our hostess/volunteer/foster/adopter, stranded with her pets and fosters at the Pasadena Convention Center awaiting the news of her home and loved ones.  Here's the clip from the Web.  Luckily, for Kim, we were able to scoop all her six rabbits and foster them out immediately. Others were not so lucky. :(

🎀Happy New Year!! 🎆🎈🎊

It would be a severe understatement to say that 2024 was challenging. But, despite it all, we saved hundreds of lives - all because of your tireless support. So many are safe now because of our amazing network of VOLUNTEERS, FOSTERS, and DONORS! In 2025, we resolve to do the same and keep fighting the good fight for these vulnerable creatures.

In ancient Babylonian, Chinese, and Celtic traditions, the transition period from the old year to the new was viewed as a struggle between chaos and order, over which order always prevailed. Our belief that we too can banish chaos and integrate more fully into our lives our dreams , desires, goals, and..... BUNNIES gives us all the determination and fortitude to change their, your, and our lives for the better.

Finally, thank you to ALL who supported BWF through BOARDING at the Bunny Château in 2024. In December alone, 100+ bunnies visited and indulged throughout our premises. At the time of this post, we are hosting 50 guests and are celebrating BUNNY BONANZA!

TWO INJURED BUNS ON DEATH ROW!

🛑 🆘URGENT! 2 INJURED BUNS ON DEATH ROW (ORANGE ALERT!) @EAST VALLEY ANIMAL SHELTER‼️ FOSTERS & SPONSORS NEEDED TO HELP US PULL THEM TO SAFETY‼️ If they both make it alive, they will look beautiful together. Will you help us make this LIFE/LOVE STORY possible? If everyone  donates ONE cup of coffee, we could save both these buns & some! ☕❣️

1️⃣ ROCKY (F)—(We will name her Scheherazade if she becomes ours!) JUMPED OUT OF a volunteer's ARMS & LANDED ON THE FLOOR. I mean, who's in charge of these new volunteers at the city shelter? Why are they allowed to pick up UNFIXED RUMBUNCTIOUS rabbits and carry them around? Seriously messed up!! And now the bunny must pay the price for this idiotic and utterly preventable incident? She has a DISLOCATED RIGHT HIP & NEEDS A $3,000 FEMORAL HEAD EXCISION SURGERY! In order to pull off this almost X-Mas Miracle, we need a TRANSPORTER, FOSTER, & SURGERY FUNDS.

2️⃣ BUBBLES (M) - (We named him SULTAN 👑. He's ours!) He was ALERTED earlier for HEMATOMA, and we were able to pull him from the shelter and take him to our vet, where he underwent EAR & NEUTER SURGERY and is currently HOSPITALIZED. His initial treatment was $1,500. He will need another surgery soon. So, we're hoping to raise his total to $3,000. 📍CAN ANYONE FOSTER HIM? It would save us a pretty penny! He's currently on 5 meds!

📍DOCTOR'S NOTES: "Right ear 👂 very thickened & scarred from previous hematoma & inadequate treatment. Nose watery. Purulent otitis. Castration & attempt to repair ear; was able to remove some of the scar tissue. The ear will remain very thickened. If circulation is damaged, he may require pinna removal. Sutures for 4 weeks."
