Sustainability Team meetings start at 11:00 UTC bi-weekly on Fridays. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the meeting by commenting in SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. threads during the meeting and throughout the following days. Meeting notes will be published by the following Tuesday to also incorporate these asynchronous conversations.

These are the topics for this week’s meeting:

1️⃣ News and updates

• Our Sustainable Events Handbook has been translated to Spanish during the WordCamp Pontevedra Contributor DayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. They are events where people get together to work on various areas of https://make.wordpress.org/ There are many teams that people can participate in, each with a different focus. https://2017.us.wordcamp.org/contributor-day/ https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/getting-started/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day/. 💚
• Also on WordCamp Pontevedra Contributor Day there was talks (again) about having a sustainability channel in Spanish. The existence of this channel could lower the entry barrier for some people to contribute, so it’s now available.
• Not a new topic, just a friendly reminder that you can request a badge if you contribute to the sustainability team, according to the decided criteria.

• We invite all those who has attended to provide feedback on their experience at the WCUS Conference or Contributor Days regarding sustainability.
• At the last meeting, @ipajen brought and interesting topic: Is WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ using green power? We need you to help us answer two questions: What information do we have about this? and What can we, as a team, do for change or improve this?
• Training Team is working on a Learning Pathway for designers that includes a lesson focused on sustainability. @ironnysh asked to give feedback on this. This is specially important to all the contributors interested on working on the guidelines project as we are still discussing the publishing format(s) and this can be a good reference.

➡️ Social Sustainability

• Improve Sustainability Team handbook
• Leave your feedback on the Project Health Dashboards hangouts summary
• Adopt and integrate Open Collective
• Determine if/how we can work with the Contributor Working Group on contributing to and extending Five for the Future (5ftF); revisit and formulate next steps.
• Support the development of the Global Contributor Handbook.

➡️ Economical Sustainability

• Getting funding for the WP Sustainability PluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party and its Guidelines
• Find out how we can partner with organizations outside the WP ecosystem that deal with the same challenges within the world of open-source. As discussed here and here.
• Determine if we can leverage GitHubGitHub GitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged be the repository owner. https://github.com/ Sponsors and Open Collective to sustain the WordPress project and community; IF yes, work through the implementation steps.
• Determine if we can leverage and extend the FundOSS fundraising format to raise funds for teams and priority projects; If yes, work through the implementation steps.

➡️ Environmental Sustainability

• Create a web sustainability guidelines for WordPress, contribute to this new project
• Improve the Sustainable Events Handbook section.
• Create a draft to collect information about the efforts made by the WCEU’s organizers in favor of environmental sustainability.
• Create a better overview of WP Sustainability issues
• Create a template/pattern for a sustainability page for WordCamp sites
• The new default WP theme Twenty Twenty-Five is now being developed. Consider contributing to it to make it as sustainable as possible.

Anyone is more than welcome to bring any topic for open discussion during the meeting.
