Zoo Brix...
They build, rattle and float!

Three different series of six bricks, in a rather nice flip top box with a perforated tray inside to hold the six bricks.

I've also managed to find three out of six of the set B and four out of six of set C.

It looks like these things came in a multitude of colours, bases as well as the animals.

I've also got a few duplicates if anyones interested, see picture below.

Lovely, always amazed how well boxes now sixty years old have held up all this time! A remarkable find, Tony!

Nice find, Tony.

I have a load of Zoo Bricks, but they seem to have different animals in them to those in your pictures. As there is no maker's mark on the bricks I can't decide whether they are Airfix or not.

There's no Airfix brand mark on this lot either Sean, the only thing with a logo is the box.

You can also find these glue-welded to a handle, with the animal loose - as a baby's rattle. The handle has a teething ring at the other end.

Thanks for posting that Tony. What's the pattern number on the box? I can't make it out in the photo.

Pattern number 430 Steven.
Any idea of a date for it?

Tony.

1949ish? Would have to check my advertisements, which I do not have at hand here at work.

The Ferguson Tractor is pattern number 480, so 430 would presumably have been tooled a bit earlier - 1948 or 49 is my guess.
