Proposition 6707
A proposal for a hotel on Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia.
The building is arranged around an inclined, stepping spiral, with the ground floor serving as reception and entry. The first floor houses hotel offices and administration. Above this are the hotel’s dining room, bar, and health spa arranged around a central open courtyard that looks west to the nearby ridgeline. As in a coastal motel, guests rooms are arranged around the top level and are entered off a shared, open balcony. Slender vertical openings track the path of the sun, and are again lined in gold, bathing the interior of the rooms in the light of the setting sun for those rooms on the west overlooking the ocean and the rising sun for those on the east looking back to the ridge.
