Convicted Murderer Reappointed to Police Review Board

When Zohran Mamdani chose convicted armed robber Mysonne Linen to help direct crime policy as a member of his criminal legal system committee, he seemed to plumb new depths of moonbattery. But Salem, Oregon has plumbed deeper.

The New York Post reports:

A convicted murderer who executed a teenage girl has been voted onto the police review board of a woke Oregon city — because of the unique “perspective” he brings.

Actually, warped perspectives are not all that unique in moonbattery-addled Oregon.

Kyle Hedquist, 47, was reappointed by the City Council in Salem, Ore., to serve on the board that reviews police complaints by a five-to-four vote, despite serving 27 years in prison for murder, the Statesman Journal reported.

He was originally appointed last year. His résumé:

The Oregon native was sentenced to life behind bars without parole in 1994 for the killing of 19-year-old Nikki Thrasher, after he led the victim down a remote road and shot her in the back of the head to prevent her from telling people about a recent burglary spree.

You know how life without parole goes with liberals in charge:

[I]n 2022, he was released, after Oregon’s then-governor, Kate Brown, a Democrat, argued Hedquist “shouldn’t be locked up for life” due to the fact he was 17 when he carried out his brutal crime.

DEI Forced Harvard to Teach Remedial Math

Harvard is not cheap. Attending as an undergraduate costs $86,926 per year. On top of that, Harvard vacuums up staggering sums of taxpayer money, despite receiving $billions per year in donations and sitting on an endowment of $57 billion. But at least the students are learning something besides LGBTism, Critical Race Theory, and how to hate America.

The New York Post reported last spring:

The school’s math department is providing a new scaled-back math class for freshmen who are apparently arriving on campus lacking “foundational skills” in high school math basics like geometry and algebra.

Why is it that students at America’s most prestigious university need to take high school level math courses? DEI is why.

Had these students studied for the SATs — which, according to the College Board website, tests them on four “areas of math that play the biggest role in college and career success: algebra, advanced math, problem solving . . . and geometry” — they wouldn’t need Math MA.

Math MA is what they call the remedial course.

Instead, many of them probably bombed on the math SAT or skipped the whole thing altogether, taking advantage of the fact that Harvard scrapped the standardized testing requirement during the pandemic.

As with a lot of moonbattery that was pushed through on the pretext of Covid, the lack of an SAT requirement outlived the virus.

Harvard was capitulating to the pressure of those who insisted standardized testing is a vestige of racism and argued that scrapping the process altogether would advance equity.

You don’t need to know math if you claim membership in an identity group lucky enough to be “marginalized.”

You probably don’t need to pay the full tuition either. No doubt taxpayers end up picking up much of the tab for DEI students.

Harvard hauls in its mountains of money by banking on its prestige — which it has been frittering away for the sake of moonbattery. The school was forced into a course correction:

To Harvard’s credit, the school announced in April last year that it is finally bringing back standardized testing requirements for the class of 2031.

However,

While Harvard has seen the light, elite colleges like Columbia, Princeton, Vanderbilt and Duke are still clinging to their test-optional policies.

Let’s hope these other pricey schools offer remedial math too.

Eric Swalwell Suggests Imprisoning ICE Agents

However insane the moonbattery Democrats have already achieved, Eric Swalwell needs to escalate it further if he is to rise from a congressman to Governor of California. His policy regarding the ICE agents who risk their lives to defend the USA from foreign invasion reflects his best effort.

Swalwell on the moonbat platform MS NOW, via Breitbart:

“[I]f the president is going to send ICE agents to chase immigrants through the fields where they work, what I’m going to do is make sure that they take off their masks and show their faces, that they show their identification. And if they commit crimes that they’re going to be charged with crimes, if it’s falsely imprisoning people, if it’s kidnapping, if it’s assault battery, they’re going to be held accountable.”

What Democrats call kidnapping and assault, Americans know as “arresting criminals who sometimes resist.”

Those ICE agents who are not thrown in prison might be denied the use of vehicles so as to prevent them from performing their crucial duties:

“I also think if the governor has the ability to issue driver’s licenses to people in California, if you’re going to wear a mask and not identify yourself, you’re not going to be eligible to drive a vehicle in California.”

ICE agents sometimes wear masks so that Swalwell’s fellow liberals do not dox them and target them and their families for harassment and terror attacks. Gavin Newsom has already a signed a law to prevent ICE agents from defending themselves in this manner — despite a 1,000% increase in assaults on ICE officers, largely driven by Democrat rhetoric.

The term “kakistocracy” does not do justice to rule by California Democrats. “Verminocracy” might work better.

Somali grifters have looted taxpayers for as much as $9 billion in Minnesota. If only that were the extent of it.

An independent journalist in Ohio has released a video investigation alleging extensive fraud schemes involving the misuse of Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) benefits within parts of the state’s Somali community, adding to broader scrutiny of welfare programs and oversight failures.

A favorite scam involves connecting restaurants to grocery stores.

According to the journalist, these grocery stores are able to process EBT transactions for bulk food purchases, which are then used to supply the adjacent restaurants.

Then the grocery stores — which do their business in cash — report large losses that can be used to claim tax write-offs.

Muslim polygamous marriages also increase access to entitlement moola. Multiple wives get paid to be single mothers while working low-wage jobs as they displace the American population by squirting out staggering quantities of offspring.

Combine the welfare state with open borders and you get a looting spree that will bleed America to death. Due to relative reproduction rates, the problem will continue to get increasingly severe even if Democrats do not open the immigration floodgates all the way — and once they get the opportunity, they will.

Palisades Fire Allowed to Burn on Behalf of Endangered Plants

Zohran Mamdani’s choice of a lesbian DEI hire to head the NYFD suggests that New York will follow the Los Angeles model of firefighting. To grasp what this means, consider that the disastrous Palisades Fire was allowed to get out of control lest the bulldozers that could have stopped it damage endangered plants.

The Los Angeles Times reports:

An hour after midnight Jan. 1, as a small brush fire blazed across Topanga State Park, a California State Parks employee texted the Los Angeles Fire Department’s heavy equipment supervisor to find out if they were sending in bulldozers.

Using bulldozers to clear flammable brush could have prevented the fire from spreading.

“Heck no that area is full of endangered plants,” Capt. Richard Diede replied at 9:52 a.m, five hours after LAFD declared the fire contained.

“I would be a real idiot to ever put a dozer in that area,” he wrote. “I’m so trained.”

That is, trained by moonbats to prioritize allegedly oppressed plants over people and their property. Evidently fire doesn’t harm endangered plants.

The exchange between the state and LAFD employees is part of a batch of newly-released text messages and depositions from California State Parks staffers that offers new details of the state’s actions and interactions with firefighters in the critical days after the Lachman fire ignited and rekindled Jan. 7 into the deadly Palisades blaze.

We already knew that the ineptitude of the moonbats in charge played a major role:

In October, The Times reported that a battalion chief ordered firefighters to roll up their hoses and leave the burn area Jan. 2, even though crews warned that the ground was still smoldering. The LAFD also decided not to use thermal imaging technology to detect heat underground.

The problem goes beyond Karen Bass to Gavin Newsom. Some Los Angeles moonbattery is passed down from Sacramento:

Palisades residents have also sued the state, which owns Topanga State Park, alleging it failed in the week between the two fires to inspect the burn scar after firefighters left and make sure a “dangerous condition” did not exist on its property. …

Testimony and texts from state environmental scientists show that California State Parks’ initial concern when the fire broke out was whether the fire was on park land and whether firefighting efforts and equipment would harm federally endangered plants and artifacts. …

In 2020, the city of Los Angeles agreed to pay $1.9 million in fines as part of an agreement with the California Coastal Commission after L.A. Department of Water and Power crews bulldozed hundreds of federally endangered plants in Topanga State Park. The city had been working to replace aging wooden power poles to make the power lines more resistant to strong winds and fire.

LA bureaucrats weren’t about to make that mistake again.

Regarding the price of this foolishness, as noted at PJ Media:

Twelve people died in the fires during three weeks of January 2025, with 6,837 structures destroyed (and another thousand or so damaged), more than 23,000 acres burned, and total damages currently estimated at about $25 billion with a B in the Palisades, Topanga, and Malibu areas of Los Angeles County.

But at least the devastation will Democrats to replace nice neighborhoods with government-subsidized slums.

Great Replacement Approaches End Stage in Belgium

If the objective is to eradicate Western Civilization, the Great Replacement is working well in Belgium.

The data there shows that in Brussels, 72.9 percent of children and youth aged 0-17 have a migration background from outside the European Union or were born outside the EU, according to StatBel, the official government statistic organization.

Remarkably, only 10.56 percent in this age group are Belgians of exclusively Belgian origin.

It isn’t just the capital:

In Belgium as a whole, 64 percent are of Belgian origin, 22.1 percent are Belgian of foreign origin, and 13.8 percent are foreigners with no Belgian citizenship.

Given the explosive reproductive rates of colonists from the Third World relative to the native population, Belgians will soon find themselves a shrinking minority nationwide in what was once their own country.

This is different from earlier conquests. After Muslims conquered Spain, it took 800 years, but Spaniards finally managed to throw them out. There won’t be any Belgians to throw them out of Belgium, because Belgians will have been displaced. Unless the course changes soon, Belgium will no longer exist. The rest of Western Europe will follow.
