Our intrepid adventurers started on a boat traveling to the mysterious isle of Awa Nikko. They are in search of wealth, growth, and one is seeking death from a worthy opponent. The Samurai, Tostido, dripping with honor, is played by Justin. DarthChronis plays Kosugi the dual dagger wielding Ninja. Lauren and Rachel are the pirates Tomiko and Tsubame. Tsubame hails from the Nightlock clan. Tomiko belongs to the Dirty Beard’s Bastards clan. Upon arriving at the flotilla collar, they discover that it is clogged with a dizzying variety of vessels crammed together and completely blocking off the docks.
The boat pilot hands them a length of rope with knots every few feet and encourages them to use it to keep the party connected as they are dropped of onto the nearest junk. While hopping from boat to boat, Kosugi and Tsubame choose not to hold the rope and they both fail their dexterity rolls and fall into the congested bay. Tostido and Tomiko pull them to safety using the rope. They make it to the docks and are greeted by a non-verbal boy with a sign beckoning them to follow him because they are new to the island. They are led through a maze of dipalidated shops, ragtag carts, and indigents to a shop with a sign reading “New Arrivals Check In”.
They are greeted by General Tso who is surrounded by all kinds of wares, from adventuring tools to food, to curios. General Tso talks them into retrieving an orange lotus from the jungle for a monetary reward. As they look toward the jungle, they notice the boy they followed earlier was changing the sign on the shop. It was flipped around to read “General Tso’s General Store”. General Tso gave them a spyglass with a red film that would allow them to see a marking on a tree that indicated the location of the lotus they were seeking. The boy led them to the edge of the jungle where, to their surprise, he spoke clearly in trade-tongue by giving them details about the jungle trip.
The boy told them it was a day hike to the destination and when they return, they could simply ask the nearest vendor for directions to General Tso’s General Store. The trek to the marked tree was hot and humid – but uneventful. A suitable clearing was found where they camped for the night. Three peaceful nightwatch shifts later and they woke to finish their journey. Upon reaching the massive tree, Tostido walked around the hulking trunk of the tree to discover two Tengu half-way around the tree and out of sight of his companions. The Tengu, wielding a frying pan and a butcher knife, charged Tostido.
The rest of the party heard the commotion and ran toward the fight. The Tengu weere dispatched with little effort and their feet were harvested. Maybe some vendor would be interested in a trade…? The orange lotus turned out to be made of wood, with a narrow stem and a flared base(giggity). The bottom of the base contained a map, with an X indicated on a location on the lower base of the Nebulith. Tomiko snapped off the base and stashed it in her pack separately from the flower. The party headed back to the Collar, only to discover a Giant Gecko blocking their path. Tostido bravely drew his sword and made threatening gestures at the peaceful and kindly looking Gecko. The Gecko bolted toward Tostido in response to his challenge. The animal loving pirates tried to subdue the cfreature while the other two proceded to successfully murder poor Bal(name given by Tomiko). The feet were removed and stowed away for future trade. They made it back to the Collar and asked for directions to General Tso’s and made it back to the shop.
Notes:
1. There was no small amount of railroading on my part. I’m rather new(again – haven’t run games for several decades) to running games and that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.2. There was a lot of laughing
