my back yard pt. 2

Image
well. there's a new addition to the pet cemetery. last  week we lost Rajah, brother to nishita and punima who died in 2o18. he's buried adjacent to them. when dh was digging the grave, he found  a large skull of a dog (not ours), so he had to put a little more space than we would have preferred between the cats. i  imagine in thirty years or so, whoever buys the house and digs up the yard will be quite surprised. good night, ttyl, and be well in this year of COVID-19

jinxed !!

no sooner had i written that last post than i came  down with a  fever and a raging case of cellulitis. needless to say i was admitted into the hospital the monday before thanksgiving and stayed until  the sunday  after. i did however order a turkey dinner on thursday, and they served a special dessert! since i came home, i haven't heard from my caregiver... so i called the office and spoke with her supervisor. it turns out that she was clocking  in and out all week! that's tantamount to fraud. don't know what'll happen to her. i have had two caregivers since. both i liked, but the first one lasted only one day, and the other hasn't had much experience. i'll give her a chance and we'll see what happens. good night, ttyl, and be well.

fingers crossed

i haven't been admitted to the hospital since i got home from the last stay in january.  i we have a diligent routine for cleaning out my cath, and my belly bag and my night bag. we do regular flushes and bi-weekly cath. changes. i have no idea what caused my cellulitis the last two times i went in, but thank god it hasn't recurred. though i have to admit i kind of miss my bouts of delirium  that accompanied my sepses ... they were kind of... entertaining. ;-) i really have been trying to stay healthy. good night, ttyl, and be well,

My Guillty Pleasure --- Watching (way too much} TV

Image
Since I am mostly stuck in bed  due to MS, I mostly watch TV on my computer using a program called icefilms.info or dragon player. We block the commercials with noscript, I readily admit that I watch a lot of television . . . between reading books, of course. Some of these have been cancelled, others have run their course, many are in their first season, so we'll see. So, in no order whatsoever this is a partial list of what I've been watching. grey's anatomy the good doctor the resident f.b.i. this is us new amsterdam the walking dead the gifted 911 modern family how to get away with murder splitting up together the guest book father brown doctor, doctor doc martin murdoch mysteries chesapeak shores god friended me madam secretary better call saul  (the entire series) the press one dollar the good place speechless vanity fair the frankie drake mysteries house of cards (the entire series) gypsy offspring royal  pains midnight, texas ho...

My Back Yard

Image
My Back Yard We've had many pets over the 25+years that we have lived in this house, and many are buried in the back yard, therefore my back yard is a minus the Stephen King and the ghoulish nature. Of all our pets, some I miss more than others. Worf  was a favorite of mine, as was Galadriel and Purnima but I miss all of them, really. So here they are, in the order of their demise. Gus (Ceasar Augustus) was our first cat who died. DH brought him home from a woman he met when in grad school. Her cat had a  litter and she had to get rid of them so he took one. We had him put down at the vet and brought him home to be buried. He died in mid-purr. He had cerebellar hypoplasia, though he may have been misdiagnosed,  as his condition worsened as he grew up. His bones can be found next to the fence that encloses our compost pile -- under the photinia trees. Mayday was next. She was a black and white pound rescue cat.  We don't know what caused it, but she...

My MS Update 2017

Image
I entered last year celebrating by watching 'new year at the needle' fireworks display (The Seattle Space Needle) on a hospital TV.  I was in there from 12/27/16 to 1/3/17 with, I believe, cellulitis and a bladder infection.  I have been in the hospital several times since then, 5/19 to 5/22  with cellulitis. I didn't have any cuts so it must have been a cat claw poke or a bug bite... any break in the skin will do for those of us who are immuno-compromised. August brought me in hospital from 8.19  to 8/25 with the perfect trifecta -  cellulitis, vaginal and bladder infections. So, how am I doing? you might ask. Well,  36 years with MS and this is my current condition. From head to toe, here goes nothing. if you are newly diagnosed let me tell you here that mine is not a typical case, but still, you may want to stop reading now. head - intermittent memory lapses; I thank the heavens for post-it notes, I have three on my laptop now reminding me...

My Family

Image
insert picture here I was the youngest of five;  I have four older brothers. I like to say that ours     was a military family . . .  family planning by war (a different kind of rhythm method). My Dad was in the Navy, and my parents met at a USO dance. They got married in 1938. They had Jack in 1939, and Bill in 1941.  Then came WWII and dad spent most of his time at sea. WWII ended with a bang (or two). Dad's ship was being overhauled in Bremerton, WA, so I guess he had shore duty. So then they had Jim in 1946, and Bob in 1948.  Then came the Korean War, and Dad was off to sea again. After the war ended my Dad retired in 1954, and (surprise!), they had me in 1955. My Mom was peri- menopausal at 42, hence the surprise. But they got what they were waiting for ... a  girl. So there was a sixteen year gap between Jack and me. I have only a few memories of growing up with him. I may write about them,  but probably not. ...
