Paintings from this years Plein Air competition in Sainte Genevieve
The first painting is 8x9" oil on canvas. A quick two hour sketch done at White Cliff Manor is St. Mary. The first oil painting I've finished in three years. The second is 10x12" oil on canvas. A 4 or 5 hour painting of the Sainte Genevieve Winery. The picture is a bit blurry as I took it in low light from the wall of the show where it's being displayed.
I took a break today from yet another long weekend of work to walk down to the Sainte Genevieve winery a few blocks from our house. Local musician Ian Fisher was playing in the arbor so I did a quick sketch while enjoying a glass of Seyval Blanc. Good music and good wine for an hour. Now back to work!
I was looking at some old X-Men comics today and I realized it's probably been over 10 years since I drew a picture of Wolverine, not counting the storyboards I did for 'Wolverine & The X-Men' last year. This is also the first finished piece I've done in a very long time. My inking is rusty and the coloring was rushed but it was fun nonetheless. Hopefully I will find the time to do some more like this soon...
You would be surprised at how hard it is to paint a convincing strawberry. This is the illustration for another wine label I did for The Sainte Genevieve Winery.
It's been a while since I've updated and it's going to be a while longer until I have time to do something new. Until then here's something REALLY old. I recently got a package from my aunt who found a bunch of drawings in a envelope while going through some of my grandmother's things. This one is a picture of King Kong that I drew in 1976 after seeing the movie. I was SIX!
