We like a good neighbor!

So now that it has been a year, it is about time for me to update the blog. So I am starting with something really cool that happened yesterday and then I will work back in time from here (I hope!) over the next few weeks.

On April 26th, 2008 President Thomas S. Monson, President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the site for the future Gilbert Arizona Temple. Well two and half years later and a lot of red tape the ground breaking ceremony was yesterday. The Temple will be our neighbor. Check this out...

We are on the same city block!!!

The girls and I went to the event, as Tyce and J.D. had other commitments. It was pretty cool. I was overcome with emotion as we sang the Spirit of God with 7,500 plus people. Very cool and I hope memorable for the girls. Here are some pictures.

I think it is disturbing...

I do find it quite disturbing that Reese loves Yo Gabba Gabba so much. The girl is coo coo for it. The first thing she asks for in the morning is Gabba and multiple times a day. It tells how bad it is that we have at least 12 episodes recorded on both DVRs. There is an episode that Jack Black comes to visit. (Quite funny even for an adult since Jack Black is hilarious! But one viewing is enough!) So she now asks for Jack Black Gabba. So yes my 2 year old knows who Jack Black is and thinks he is funny!

Boomerang Binky

No way she found the binky. She had stashed it in her shopping cart. She found it and ran to Tyce all excited with it in her hand "Tyce binky!!!". Tyce snatched from her and ran downstairs yelling "Mom Reese found the binky!!" with her close behind in tears. I quickly grabbed it from him and threw it away. I scooped up Reese and cuddled her and told her she was a big girl and she didn't need the binky. She had a minor meltdown for a few minutes until we put on Yo Gabba Gabba and then it was all better. So on we go...BINKY FREE!!!!

Adios Amigo

The amigo is Reese's binky. Yes it is true...I have finally sucked it up and the binky is gone. I am really quite embarrassed that she is 2 and still had a binky. And not just a little bit but pretty much whenever she wanted. She is the baby and I just let her go with it. Jagen - right at 1 it was gone. No kid of mine was gonna wounder around talking with one of those dangling in their mouth. Tyce - 14 months, Asey - 18 months, but Reese takes the cake with 26 months. I am so lame, but last week I had a real eyeopener. One day while we were out (I never let her take it out in public) she was relentless about wanting it. To the point she was in tears and causing trouble so that she could get my attention and then beg for it. It got so bad I had to go home to get it just so I could finish what I was doing. Yes she did wounder around talking with it dangling out of her mouth. For those of you who have gone through similar experiences with binkies or bottles you know you have to gear up for the whole process of removal. Kind of a mental prep for what you are about deal with, but that was it no time for gearing up, I had had it with the binky. This week is fall break for my kids so it is a perfect time to extract the binky. I carefully devised a plan to snip the end and tell her it was broken on Saturday afternoon. Then more on Sunday etc until there was nothing left to suck and it was officially BROKEN and we would throw it away. Well Saturday afternoon before I could do any snipping she lost it. I told her to go put it in her bed so she could go outside with dad, and we haven't seen it since. So we went cold turkey on Saturday. And it has been going pretty well. She didn't even ask for it yesterday. But now she is sick and I feel so bad that she doesn't have it, but she hasn't asked for it so I guess all is well. Now I just hope that if it is still somewhere in this house that I find it and not her. Or it could be a real problem.

Like mother like daughter...maybe

Jagen thought this was so funny that she decided to catch it on video for me to enjoy!

The sad part is that this cute little face...

the very next day did this...

and this...

In a matter of minutes. So I guess furiously cleaning things with a wet wipe is not an indicator that she will be a clean freak like me. I can dream though!

My Reesey is two...TERRIBLE TWO!!!

( What happened to that brown hair?)

Reese's birthday was on Friday. I am a little slow to get this done. I can't believe she is already two. I do have to say she is a true terrible two year old...but we will keep her! She keeps us laughing! Here are some cute pictures of my girl!

This is the morning of her birthday and I was getting ready for the day. I turned around and she had gone and got a pillow and a blanket and made a bed in my bathtub. Pretty cute!
Opening up her presents! This is how many fingers she holds up when you ask her how old she is. But she does say that she is two.
Her and her new baby with the birthday cake!
Goodnight birthday girl and baby doll!

(Please disregard the binky. She is my baby cut me a little slack please!)

Another First Day

I am asking the question...Where did the summer go? I am so sad it is over. Usually by the end I am ready for the routine, but not this year. I love the freedom of summer. The kids were starting to fight and that tells me they were ready for routine though. All good things must come to an end.

Monday was our first day of school. Jagen started 6th, Tyce started 4th and my little Asey started ALL DAY Kindergarten. So it is just me and Reesey at home. Pretty crazy. We changed schools this year so the first day was met with much hesitation by Jagen, but the other two were off and running.

I took the kids to school and left Jagen all by herself pinching back the tears (her and me both) so that I could make sure Asey was all set. Tyce had long since headed to his playground with little more than a half hug goodbye...boys. So I walked Asey to her playground and found where to line up. I thought once we got there that she would lose it, but no she just lined right up and headed off. So then I sat there and lost it! It had been so busy the last week being on vacation I hadn't really stopped to think about sending her off to Kindergarten so when the moment came I was not too prepared. I totally cried my eyes out!

The first week has gone well and everyone seems to be settling in. I just have to convince Asey that lunch at school isn't too bad. I think I spoiled her by making Mac and Cheese a few too many times a week. She is not so much a sandwich girl.

Here are the first day of school pictures. I tried to get them to do the cheesy hold up fingers for the grade your in thing...no one but Asey would do it and she is kindergarten so what do you hold up???
